Presently, 1 Shanghai to Shaoguan high speed train is shuttling from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to Shaoguan Railway Station. It needs the travel time of 7.5 hours to complete the travel distance of 1,667 kilometers (1,036 miles). The ticket price for a first class seat is CNY 1,327 and for a second class seat is CNY 829.

2 normal speed trains are also available from Shanghai Songjiang Railway Station to Shaoguan East Railway Station, taking 19.5 hours to finish a single trip. A soft sleeper costs CNY 470.5 or CNY 547.5 and a hard sleeper costs CNY 307.5 or CNY 331.5.

Danxia Mountain is a world geological park and a world natural heritage. The mountain is famous for the red cliffs which are formed through thousands of years. Men of letters from different dynasties wrote lots of poems to extol the beauty of the mountain.

In the scenic area, there are many natural attractions like Zhanglao Peak, Yangyuan Hill, Xianglong Lake and Jin River and historical sites including a grotto temple built during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) and Biezhuan Temple. Most importantly, the lakes, trees and small mountains add more charm to the Danxia Mountain. As the representative of Danxia landform, Danxia Mountain is the very place if you want to appreciate the marvel of nature.

Many activities can also be found in the scenic area such as rafting. Tourists can also visit Zhanglao Peak, Xianglong Lake which are included in Danxia Mountain Scenic Area.

If you want to go to Danxia Mountain, it is suggested to take the train heading to Shaoguan East Railway Station. From the east railway station, one can take the direct bus to get to Danxia Mountain. The bus departs every 15 minutes from 06:50 to 22:30, taking about one hour. The ticket price is CNY 16 per person.
