i had overall a good experience travelling by train Shanghai --> Beijing and Beijing --> Dalian.
i lived and worked out of Japan 1999~2019 and have to say that China super express train service is indeed approaching the Shinkansen of Japan as it was around 2000-2005.
Please make all train stations accessible via public transport so that a transfer from a public transport onto a train is verifiably doable in ≈15 minutes.

Very easy to use and also very reliable. I bought many train tickets and had no problems at all.

All worked out pretty easy and super convenient. Train left on time, seat was reserved. Only the hectic at Shanghai train station was new to me.

Fast, efficient, nice people

Very easy to book with logical steps and readily accessible information regarding journey. Signage in Hongqiao station needs improving as there are no directions to the ticket office or upstairs to the platforms leading to you just walking around the whole building until you find them. The signs for the bus terminal and subway are excellent these just need replicating for normal trains
