 Of course, if you don’t have much time for the long rail travel and want to make a quick or direct transfer between Shanghai and Sanya, a flight will be a good choice. 16 flights scheduled from 06:40 to 20:55 are in service for trip from Shanghai to Sanya and from Sanya to Shanghai, 12 flights from 06:25 to 20:55 are available. It usually takes 3 hours or so, but it costs more than rail travel with the air fare from CNY 650 to CNY 1,500.
 During peak seasons such as Chinese New Year and winter, the direct Shanghai - Sanya flight costs a lot than usual, so it is suggested to take Shanghai - Haikou flight first and then take Haikou - Sanya high speed train to get to Sanya. By this way, it will save a lot money. And if you have adequate time, spare some time hanging out in Haikou.
 

1. Get some sunshine and enjoy the fun of swimming in places like Sanya Bay, Yalong Bay and Tianya Haijiao.
2. Dive in Wuzhizhou Island and explore the mystery of sea.
3. Learn the culture of Taoism in Nanshan Temple.
4. Trek across Yanoda Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone to breathe fresh air in tropical rain forests and experience the customs of local people.
5. Eat some local rare sea foods, tropical fruits and buy some souvenirs in No. 1 Market which is located in Xinjian Street.
6. Go shopping in the duty-free shop at Haitang Bay.
