As the busiest rail transport hub of the world’s largest railway network, Beijing is the starting point of Beijing – Shanghai, Beijing – Guangzhou, Beijing – Harbin, Beijing – Kowloon (HK) and Beijing - Tongliao railway lines which are among the planned 8 vertical (North-South) and 8 horizontal lines (East-West) high speed railway network. Beijing is the only city that connects four major economic circles including Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, northeast and northwest.

Suburban Railway Lines to Beijing Outskirts

S1 (Sub-center Line) for Commuting

This line runs through Beijing and Beijing West Railway Station, and Tongzhou District, the sub-center where People’s Government of Beijing Municipality is located. The line is designed mainly for people commuting between Tongzhou and downtown Beijing. It takes only 35 minutes from Tongzhou to Beijing West.

S2 – the Train to Spring

Running from Huangtuling to Yanqing, this line passes by Badaling and Juyongguan Great Wall. Passengers can see the great walls on the mountains along the way. In March and April, the train sees the apricot blossom at the foot of Juyongguan Great Wall, thus it gets the name the train to spring.
 

S5 (Huairou-Miyun Line) – with Most Attractions

S5 at a cost of only CNY 12 for the whole journey lines up famous attractions including Yanqi Lake, Mutianyu Great Wall and Jinshanling Great Wall. Tourists can get off at Yanqi Lake surrounded by mountains to watch flocks of birds like wild geese, swans and cranes, at Huairou North to Mutianyu Great Wall, or at Gubeikou to hike and camp on Jinshanling Great Wall and appreciate the sunset.
 

Intercity Railway Lines to Tianjin, Hebei & Daxing Airport

Beijing intercity railway lines are kind of supplementary to the main railway lines to neighboring provinces and cities. Beijing-Tianjin, Beijing-Xiong’an, Beijing - Binhai and Beijing-Tangshan intercity railroads link up city clusters in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area and shorten the travel time between these cities to 0.5 - 1.5 hours.
 

Huairou-Daxing Airport Intercity Railway

It serves passengers from Beijing suburban areas like Huairou, Shunyi, Miyun, Tongzhou and Daxing District and Langfang City of Hebei to Daxing Airport.
 

Tianjin-Daxing Airport Intercity Railway: Only 40 Minutes

From Tianjin West to Daxing Airport, the travel time is only 40 minutes and it takes only 5 minutes to exit from Daxing Airport train platform to check-in areas, even faster than setting off from Beijing downtown.
