3 Days Huangshan, Tunxi, Yixian Hiking Tour
Xidi Village
If you would like to have a hike around the towns and villages near Huangshan City before you climb the well-known Yellow Mountain (Mt. Huangshan), we suggest that you head for Tunxi Town.
You can take the bus No. 12 from the Huangshan Railway Station to Ermalu bus stop in Tunxi. If you take a bullet train to Huangshan North Railway Station, you should take the High-Speed Special Line to Tunxi area.
In the town, you can visit the Tunxi Old Street, Longshan Temple, or join the Xin'an River Night Cruise. To ensure you have enough time to enjoy Tunxi, we suggest you take a bus from Tunxi to Yixian County the next morning.
Yixian is about 16 miles (27 kilometers) from Tunxi, and you could also take a coach bus or charter a bicycle to reach the county. Between Yixian and Tunxi downtown, there is a provincial highway that runs parallel to the railway. On the way, you might visit Qiyun Mountain.

Upon arrival in Yixian, there are lots of attractions well worth visiting. Among these, Xidi and Hongcun Villages should not be missed. They are the typical ancient villages preserved from the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368 - 1911). When you see the buildings and the way the local people live you feel as if you have stepped back in time. The entrance charge for Huncun Village is CNY 104. From the sky, this village's layout looks like the Chinese character “牛". Enjoy the sites, and hike around to your heart's content. Afterwards, find the road leading to the Yellow Mountain. Roads from both Xidi and Hongcun lead you to Tangkou Town, which is located at the foot of the Yellow Mountain. If you get to Tangkou too late in the afternoon, you might want to stay in the town for one night and relax. The following day, you can continue hiking into the Yellow Mountain.
Hongcun Village
After enjoying the great views from Yellow Mountain, you can hike down to Tangkou Town and take a bus from the Yellow Mountain Scenic Area Bus Station back to Huangshan City (Tunxi District). Finally, find a comfortable hotel there and stay overnight. Or, you can move on to your next destination.
Tips:
1. Huangshan Railway Station is located on North Qianyuan Road, Tunxi District. We suggest you stock up on food and water before you board the train, since the food on the train will be a bit expensive.
2. Huangshan North Railway Station is located at Xixinan Town, far away from the downtown area. It operates high speed trains to Hefei, Shanghai, Beijing, and Bengbu. There is a special bus line in operation to destinations like Tunxi, Huangshan Railway Station, Yellow Mountain Scenic Area, Hongcun and Xidi Villages.
3. Huangshan Coach Bus Station is very close to the Huangshan Railway Station. The bus station provides buses to Yellow Mountain about every 30 minutes.
4. Yellow Mountain Scenic Area Bus Station has buses to Shanghai, Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Yangzhou, Wuxi, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Huzhou, Hefei, Huainan, Bengbu, Maanshan, Wuhu, Anqing, Jingdezhen and many other cities.
