How to Pick Your Ideal Xi'an Day Tour

Not sure which one to choose from the above day trips? Refer to the categorized recommendations below to find one that best matches your interests, physical fitness, and available time. If there is no itinerary you like, don’t hesitate to contact us for a customized one.

    1. For Aficionados of History
The routes to the Terracotta Army Museum, City Wall, Shaanxi History Museum, Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, or the lesser-known Yangling Mausoleum of Han Dynasty, or Stele Forest featuring calligraphy and stone carving art would provide you with profound cultural experiences. Don’t worry about cultural barriers, as our professional guide with a rich history background and over 10 years of experience serving international tourists will ensure you understand the story behind every sight.

    2. For Families with Children or Couples
A family-friendly Xi'an day trip would best include a morning visit to the Terracotta Army, offering not only historical atmosphere but also a chance to craft your own mini warrior. Afterward, ascend the City Wall for a laid-back walking or cycling tour. In the afternoon, explore the Muslim Quarter for local delicacies, and after dark, stroll through the Great Tang All Day Mall to enjoy its fantastic light shows and street performances.

    3. For Seniors
A slow-paced cultural route with less walking is recommended. Consider including these sites in your plan: Bell and Drum Towers, Muslim Quarter for sampling local food, Giant Wild Goose Pagoda with music fountain on its north square, the less crowded Small Wild Goose Pagoda, and Shaanxi History Museum with free wheelchairs.

    4. For Young People or Students
Go for a trendy city walk around the City Wall, dress in ancient Hanfu costumes for photos in the Great Tang All Day Mall, or enjoy nightlife at the bar streets around the South Gate. An outdoor lover? Challenge yourself with a hiking adventure on the perilous paths of Mt. Huashan.

    5. For Foodies
The Muslim Quarter, Sajinqiao, and Yongxingfang food streets are top picks. They are all in the city center, so you can easily combine your culinary tour with visits to nearby historical sites like the City Wall, Bell and Drum Towers, and the Great Mosque.

    6. For Business Travelers
A morning visit to the must-see Terracotta Army Museum, an afternoon business reception around Qujiang Pool Park, and a dinner show at Tang Dynasty Palace would make your day. Whether you’re attending a conference, an exhibition, or a business investigation, we offer dedicated escorts and private transfers for your comfort and efficiency, and we’ll arrange reasonable sightseeing to fit your tight schedule.

Mini Group or Private Day Tour: Which is Right for You?

Our mini group tours of 2 to 9 people are more favored by those budget-conscious travelers, with affordable prices but classic itineraries including the Terracotta Army Museum, Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, City Wall, and Muslim Quarter. Rest assured that each of you members will receive appropriate assistance and care from the guide, meet other like-minded fellows, and have maximum enjoyment of the tour.

Our private Xi’an day tours, with dedicated guide service and private car with driver, are quite flexible and can be tailored to your interests. You can freely make decisions on departure time, pick-up and drop-off points, detailed schedule, and the duration of stay at each spot. Even if you would like to visit some niche or remote sites like the Banpo Museum, Qinglong Temple, and Daxingshan Temple, we can also arrange them in your personalized trip.

3 Reasons to Book Now

We respect your time and ensure every moment of your day tour is spent on the experiences that matter to you. Note that you’ll inevitably pass shops at the entrances and exits of some spots like Terracotta Army Museum, and just ignore them if you’re not interested.

What to Know before You Go

    1. Plan for Sufficient Time: Our full-day tours typically run for 8 to 12 hours, usually from 8:00 to 18:00, with a few exceptions for half-day plans to Terracotta Army, City Wall or Muslim Quarter. If you need airport or railway station transfers on the same day, to allow enough time for sightseeing, we recommended arriving before 8:00 and leaving after 21:00. Of course your tour can be customized to fit your schedule.

FYI: Xi'an International Airport is a 1-hour drive from downtown and 1.5 hours from the Terracotta Army Museum. Xi'an North Railway Station is 40 minutes from downtown and 1 hour from the museum.

    2. What to Bring: Passport and necessary travel documents; comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses; clothes depending on the season.

    3. Holiday Crowds: During the peak season of July to August, as well as major holidays like May Day (May 1st to 3rd) and National Day (Oct 1st to 7th), there may be large crowds, long queues, and traffic congestion at popular attractions like the Terracotta Army Museum or Mt. Huashan. We appreciate your understanding.
