Chaozhou to Shenzhen to Hong Kong
Hello, this is Kai from Singapore. I am planning a trip in September in China and I want to use a train service to HK finally. I know there are direct trains to HK but I am wondering if it is worth a short visit in Shenzhen? Is a half day visiting in Shenzhen worth the trouble of transferring?

If you have free time, I think you can consider to have a few hours at Folk Culture Villages which is near Huaqiaocheng station of metro line 1. As it is not far from a metro station, the transfer is not hard. But you would need to plan an early morning trip to Shenzhen and a later ride to HK.

If there is a direct flight to Shantou it should be better. To transfer in Shenzhen, you need a lot extra time.

Yes, indeed there are direct high speed rail line to Shantou directly. Usually 8 rides a day and the ticket price is CNY117. You can check the timetable here on this website directly. However, only 8 rides a day so it is hard to say if the time can fit you or not. If not, Chaoshan is still the best destination to reach Shantou by high speed rail.
