There are about 10 pairs of trains in total running between Beijing and Shenzhen. 8 pairs of them are bullet trains, including 4 pairs of overnight ones with sleepers, which take about 11.5 - 22 hours; the distance is about 1,491 miles (2,400 km). Other two pairs are normal types with duration of 23 to 29.5 hours; the distance is about 1,473 miles (2,372 km).
In addition, you can travel by air which costs more, but it only takes 3.5 hours or so. If you are pressed for time, there is no doubt that flight is a good option.
