At present, Xiamen and Chaoshan are closely connected with each other with the help of about 87 pairs of high speed trains. Running a distance of 221/ 234 km (137/ 145 mi), bullet trains take about 1 - 2 hours to complete a single journey. A second class seat of them costs no less than CNY 75. It is the beginning part of Xiamen – Shenzhen High Speed Railway whose total distance is as long as about 514 km (319 mi). There are 6 major stations set up on the way, including Jiaomei, Zhangzhou, Zhangpu, Yunxiao, Zhao’an and Raoping.
To land on the Gulangyu Island, the most famous tourist attraction in Xiamen, people have to take ferries. Currently two wharfs are available for passengers from outside places at daytime, namely, Dongdu Wharf (aka Xiagu Wharf) and Songyu Wharf.
Option 1: To Dongdu Wharf
Passengers can take bus no. 957 from Xiamenbei Bus Stop and get off at Youlunzhongxin Stop, then walk around 600 meters (660 yards) to reach the Dongdu Wharf. From there, every 20 minutes from 07:10 to 18:40, ferries are arranged to Sanqiutian Wharf with a round-trip ticket of CNY 35 and to Neicuo’ao Wharf with a round-trip ticket of CNY 50.
Option 2: To Songyu Wharf
Bus no. 898 can be chosen by passengers. They can get off at Songyu Gongjiaochang Station and walk for a while to reach Songyu Wharf where 2 ferries heading for Neicuo’ao Wharf with a round-trip ticket of CNY 30 from 7:20 to 18:50 each hour.
Passengers in this station are recommended to take ferries in Dongdu Wharf. They can walk for a while to the Wucun Gongjiaochang Bus Station first and take bus no. 842 or 958 to Dongdu Huweishan Station. Then they need to walk about 700 meters (770 yards) to reach the port and take ferries to the island.
By the way, if passengers arrive in Xiamen at night, ie., from 17:50 to 06:30 the next day, they can take ferries from Hall 2 of Xiamen Lundu Ferry Terminal to Sanqiutian Wharf on the island. The round-trip fare is CNY 35 and the duration is about 7 minutes.

How to Get to Gulangyu Island from the Railway Stations in Xiamen at Daytime
From Xiamen North Station
