Questions & Answers on Fuzhou - Xiamen Train
Asked by Lillian from MALAYSIA | Dec. 18, 2019 19:37Reply
Xiamen International Airport to ShangriLa Fuzhou
We will be arriving Xiamen international airport this Saturday around 13:50 hr. Should we take a taxi or if Metro Line 1 is available to Xiamen North Railway Station for G or D train to ShangriLa Fuzhou; or will it be easier to take a taxi directly from Xiamen airport to ShangriLa Fuzhou?

If taking train, how much time should I plan for commuting from airport to train statoin meaning what is the earliest train departure time I should book? Must we book train ticket in advance or we can just buy at train station?

The distance is probably too long for a normal taxi. Even train takes 2.5 hours on the way. You can take taxi or airport shuttle bus to reachXiamen North Station and then take the train to Fuzhou. Considering the time at airport, on the way and at station, it would be better to have around 3.5 to 4 hours between the two trips. It is possible to buy ticket at station directly.

Did not find the hotel location, but if it is near Sanfang Qixian area, Fuzhou Railway Station should be closer, maybe 7 or 8km. In Xiamen, the distance from main station is a little bit closer to airport. You can use taxi or shuttle bus to go to airport.

Trains begin for sale 30 days ahead of traveling day, you can buy tickets at that time.

Your hotel in Xiamen is closer to Xiamen Railway compared with North Station, about 20min by taxi. The hotel in Fuzhou is also closer to Fuzhou Railway Station, 25min by taxi. There are two stations in Fuzhou too. Ticket should begin for sale since the 30 days of deoarture date.

Futian Railway Station is a little bit closer to your hotel, not South Station. 20min by taxi, 9km. There are over 40 rides a day to Xiamen from this station. So if you are not particular with the time and seat class, it should be no problem to get a ticket at station on the day of travel.

Why the travel time is different?
I see some of them take 1.5 hours, some take 2.5 hours. How do I know if the one I choose is bullet train or not.

In fact they are all bullet rides, but still a little different in speed. Also, the stopovers influence the duration too. Some rides only stop at a few stopovers but some other rides may stop at small stopovers as well. Therefore, they take longer time. You can just choose them based on your departure time and duration.
