Flight

Flight is another option for passengers. It takes about 2 hours for the whole journey. But the airports are located in the outskirts, and usually it needs another 2 hours or so to transfer between the city center and airport. Thus, the total time for flight journey is almost the same as high speed rail journey. Besides, the flight is more easily influenced by the weather as both the cities are in coastal area, so delays happen more frequently.

Hongqiao Station is a very busy station, maybe the most frequently used one. I read that passengers need to be there more than an hour before train time, but only 30min if you have paper ticket in hand.

This G1639 departs from Shanghai Hongqiao Station at 12:57pm and run through Jiaxing South, Hangzhou East, Yiwu, Wuyishan East and then reach Fuzhou at 16:50pm. I am not sure if this is the new type bullet ride but for this route, this is indeed one of the fastest one.

If for bullet rides, the wheelchair can access the carriage. It may takes some efforts to move to the seats anyway. The stations might be a little challenged. Though most of them have wheelchair access lift, it seems hardly used or unable to use. You may need to ask some station staff for help so it would be better if you be there early in advance.
