Xiamen North Railway Station

Being operating from April 2010, Xiamen North Railway Station is 8 miles (13 kilometers) from Gaoqi International Airport, 14 miles (23 km) from Xiamen Railway Station, and 7.4 miles (12 kilometers) from Gaoqi Railway Station. It is an important transportation hub which Connects Fuxia (Fuzhou - Xiamen) Line, Xiashen (Xiamen - Shenzhen) Line, and Xialong (Longyan - Xiamen). The station operates bullet trains only. At present, trains from there run to Beijing, Shanghai, Fuzhou, Wuhan, Chongqing, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and other cities.

To the south of the railway station, there is a square, where a bus stop is located at the southwest corner of the square. Xiamen BRT no. 1 goes passed the station, with an interval of two to three minutes. Airport shuttle bus is available in the north railway station; one can easily reach Gaoqi airport when they arrive at the station by train. To the west direction of the station, Houxi Long-distance Bus Station is under construction now. Once this is completed, it will be easier for passengers to go to nearby cities. Passengers need to pay attention when getting off from the underground exit, to the west one can reach BRT no. 1 and the bus stop; while to the east they can reach the taxi stand and tourist bus.

There are more than ten ticket windows in the ticket office. Besides, twenty self service ticket machines and ten ticket collecting machines are available for passengers. For waiting rooms, there is a main waiting room about 12,000 square yards (10,000 square meters), a 1,800 square yards (1,500 square meters) waiting room for teams, and a 1,800 square yards (1,500 square meters) one for mother – and – baby as well as the disabled.

Left luggage service is available in the station square. The price depends on the size of the luggage, but it wouldn’t exceed CNY 10 for each piece per day. Besides, the Wal-Mart in the station has free lockers.

  How to get to the railway station:
By subway: Take line 1 to the North Railway Station directly.
By bus: Take bus No. 690, 691, 692, 790, 792, 890, 898 Express, 901, 905, 907, 936, 943 Express, 949, 950, 953, 957, 980, BRT 1, and Airport Shuttle Bus North Station Line and get off at North Railway Station.
By taxi:
1. It takes 25 minutes and costs CNY 45 from Gaoqi International Airport.
2. It takes 20 minutes and costs CNY 35 from Gaoqi Railway Station.

 How to get to famous sites:
1. Jimei School Village:
Take bus No. 901 and get off at Longzhouchi.
2. South Putuo Temple:
Take bus No. 943 Express and get off at the West Village of Xiamen University, and then walk along Yanwu Road to West Yanwu Road to the crossroad, and you’ll see it.
3. Gaoqi Railway Station:
Take bus no. 953 and get off at Gaoqi Railway Station.
4. Gaoqi International Airport:
a. Take Airport Shuttle Bus North Station Line at North Railway Station.
b. Take metro line 1 to Dianqian Station, Exit 4B. Then transfer to bus no.755 to Taigusushe. Walk north around 950 meters to arrive at the airport.
