Guilin Weather in December

Guilin comes into its winter weather in December when the temperature may drop down to around 8

F). Although much warmer than Beijing, Xi'an or Shanghai at this time, the weather will still be chilly due to the dampness and strong winds especially when the cold air comes from the north. Thus, you'd better stay in a hotel with heating to keep warm. Drizzle is also common in December, but it seldom snows or freezes.

The Li River is at its lowest water level during this period, so only the Yangdi to Xingping section is available for cruise tours. The scenery on both sides appears less vital than usual. The Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces also present a desolate scene. In a word, it is not the best time to travel to Guilin, despite low travel cost.

Warm winter clothes, such as an outer fleece or thermal jacket with good windproofing, sweaters and thick jeans, are appropriate for December climate in Guilin. Prepare a pair of warm walking shoes or boots with grips on the soles.

Where to Go in Guilin in December

Although the Li River is not at its best, it is still worth a visit, or you can climb up the Xianggong Mountain near Yangshuo to have an overlook of the river. The red maple leaves in Gudong Scenic Area and the yellow Ginkgo Forest of Haiyang Town are still in season. Other choices are the numerous karst caves, and Impression Sanjie Liu performance in the evening which is not subject to the changes of the weather and seasons. Yangshuo West Street is a good choice for you to taste the local hotpot of Beer Fish, and join some Christmas activities held in the bars.

Hi, we are planning to go to Guilin in mid Dec 2019. Will it be raining, drizzling or look gloomy?

The average temperature may range from 10-15C during that period of time. You may encounter some rainy days. It is suggested to recheck the weather forecast before going there.

I will be bringing my family and kids to Guilin during mid December 2018.

Is the weather too cold and any interesting place to visit. Wind breaker will be sufficient?

Annie, it won't be cold in December. Based on the previous weather statistics, the temperature may range from 10C to 15C during that period of time. You are advised to bring coats, breaker, thin sweaters, jeans and sneakers. :)

Hi I and my family will go to guilin on 30 Nov until 3 Dec, Is the weather too cold?

We need to wear long john inside or no? What should we need to prepare? Because we have 1 kid and 1 baby. Will the cold weather make the baby and kid uncomfortable?

According to the weather condition of former years, it will be cloudy on those days, and sometimes it will rain. The temperature will be 45F to 65F. You are advised to wear the long-sleeve shirts and pants. Besides, a jacket and umbrella is also necessary. It’s okay to take kid and baby, but you may need get the warm clothes for them.

It will be 50 F to 70 F in December based on the lastest forecast. The climate will be cool and comfortable. There may have several cloudy days. And for clothes, jackets, overcoats, thin sweaters, long-sleeved shirts, jeans and sneakers are suitable. Hope helpful!
