 September is one of the best times to visit Guizhou, as the weather is cool, rainfall decreases, and it’s less crowded than the just-ended summer vacation.

Blouse, hoodie, and even long-sleeved dress are suitable, matched with trench coat, jacket, knitted cardigan at night or towards the end of September. If you’re going to climb mountains in Guizhou in the month, take an outdoor jacket, mountaineering jacket or thicker windbreaker as well, because it’s much colder and windy on the top of mountains.

It’s advised to wear sweatpants or casual pants for the lower temperature. Girls can also put on a long dress if it’s not raining. Non-slip hiking shoes are great, while stream trekking shoes are also recommended if you go to some rural spots.

Tips:
Sunproof clothes, sunglasses and hat are necessary all the same, and umbrella & raincoat should also be on your packing list.
Mosquito repellent is a must outdoors. You may also buy one on your arrival. 
You can also try local ethnic clothes when visiting an ethnic village, if interested.
If you’d like to see the harvest rice fields or terraces, don’t wear clothes in green or yellow, which is too similar with the color of farm lands.

Forest of Ten Thousand Peaks in Qianxinan offers a fine idyllic view as it’s time of harvest in September, when the rice fields are variegated yellow under the countless peaks.

If you travel with the elderly, Fanjing Mountain is not advised. Because some sections on Fanjing Mountain are very steep, which is unfitted for old people to climb. By the way, the changeable weather on the mountain makes your mountaineering trip filled with uncertainties. Watch the weather forecast in advance and prepare a warm overcoat when you travel there, a raincoat can be packed in case.

Go to Huangguoshu Waterfalls in the morning early, so you needn’t to sandwich in a crowd.

There would be more visitors in Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, if it falls in September. At the end of this month, tourists begin to increase as well for long holiday of National Day is approaching.
