Guizhou Weather in February

 Guizhou weather remains cold in February, as the temperature is about 4-10 degrees Celsius (39.2-50℉) on average. The highest temperature could rise to 23℃ (73.4℉) during February in the history, especially in the cities, but the lowest temperature is still -5℃ (23℉). It’s colder on mountains or the mountainous areas, such as the northwest part of Guizhou at a higher altitude.
This is not to say that there is a great amount of rainfall in February, but it rains frequently. In term of the amount, February could be considered as one of months with the least rainfall in Guizhou, which is less than that in January. However, it drizzles now and then, on about 8 days. When it is not drizzling, it is overcast generally. What’s more, there might be a few light snows in Guizhou in February.
 In Guizhou in February, the sun rises at 07:17-07:38 and sets around 18:35-18:53. Although the daylight hours can reach 11.3h averagely, the sunshine hours are no more than 5h every day. In big cities like Guiyang, there is a probability that the sunshine hours could reach 7.5h sometimes.
 

 February is the last month of winter, thus it’s still cold in Guizhou. Winter clothes like thermal underwear, fleece sweatshirt, fleece pants and thick overcoat are great to keep warm there. When it is raining/snowing/sleeting, you can change a thicker outerwear, such as a down coat or padded overcoat. Besides, the temperature varies noteworthily between day and night, so it’s suggested to add a thick jacket if you stay outdoors early in the morning or after the sun sets.

For the drizzling weather, a pair of waterproof hiking boots are the best. Meanwhile, you may need to walk for long in this mountainous region, thus high-heeled boots are unadvisable.

You can wear no gloves and scarf in the cities, unless there is a cold-air outbreak. It’s necessary to take a raincoat/umbrella with you, just in case. You could bundle up when go to bed, as it turns to be much colder at night.

February is in the off season of Guizhou, thus you can enjoy a trip leisurely, no need to sandwich in a crowd. Amazing natural scenery and the ethnic customs are the highlights there. Huangguoshu Waterfalls, Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village and more ethnic communities, Zhenyuan Ancient Town and more old towns, etc. are all top must-see in Guizhou.

Moreover, Fanjing Mountain is extremely popular for the snow views and soft rimes in winter. Forest of Ten Thousand Peaks in Xingyi is also fantastic, for the vast rape flower field under the karst peaks. Early to middle February is the full-blossom period there.

Tips:
1. Pay attention to local weather forecast in time. If you’re going to climb a mountain, it’s very necessary because the scenic spot may be closed for congelation or other bad meteorological conditions.
2. Some mountain roads may be icy. Please drive/walk with caution.
