November is the last month of autumn, and Guizhou weather transits from autumn to winter gradually. In high-altitude areas, it’s already winter.

What to Wear in Guizhou in November?

To adapt to the Guizhou climate in November, it’s advised to wear in layers, which is convenient to change your clothes. In early November, you can wear a blouse plus trench coat and sweatpants. Knitwear, thin sweater, denim jacket, windbreaker, jeans, etc. are also OK.

To late November, it’s suggested to wear thicker, with a suit of long johns, fleece hoodie or sweater, and waterproof outdoor jacket. Pants should also be somewhat thicker, and loose fleece pants are the best, which also make you not feel tense when climbing mountains. If you are afraid of coldness, warm winter clothes would be better, especially when it’s raining or at night.

It’s practical to choose waterproof hiking boots. Slip resistance is very important when you walk on the flagstone roads in an ancient town or ethnic village.

As a mountainous region in China, Guizhou is a great destination for fall foliage in November, especially the first half of November. Fanjing Mountain, Hongfeng Lake in Guiyang, etc. are all perfect to enjoy colorful leaves in Guizhou.

The first half of November is still a nice time to visit Huoguoshu Waterfalls and more waterside attractions in Guizhou. Although the water volume is not as large as that during the flood season, it is still considerable. The drawdown period will come at the end of November. Meanwhile, there are less visitors compared with peak season.

Duan Festival of Shui ethnic group continues in the first half of November 2025, in Sandu, Qiannan of Guizhou. To late November, Miao people celebrate their New Year on Nov. 26th, 2025, when you can experience the festival at Langde and Xijiang Qianhu Miao Villages.
