Guizhou Weather in November

 November is the last month of autumn, and Guizhou weather transits from autumn to winter gradually. In high-altitude areas, it’s already winter.
 Guizhou weather in November sees an average temperature range of 9-15 degrees Celsius (48.2-59 degrees Fahrenheit). The maximum temperature won’t exceed 26℃ (78.8℉) in the daylight, which is more likely to occur in the first two-thirds of this month. In higher areas such as Bijie and Liupanshui, the temperature is lower a little compared with the eastern Guizhou. In late November, the temperature would be much lower, when the minimum temperature can drop to near freezing point, especially at night. In Weining, Bijie, the lowest temperature is recorded to be -1℃ (30.2℉) at the end of November.
 The rainfall reduces a lot throughout Guizhou in November. It rains lightly on 9 days or so, not heavily but quite frequently. In some region with less rainfall like Qiannan, people may suffer drought to some extent. Anyway, rain gear can never be forgotten in Guizhou.

In some years, it’s possible to see the first snow in Guizhou in late November. In particular, there is a greater chance of snow on high mountains. It won’t snow heavily in November, and it melts quickly.
 To late autumn, the daylight hours become shorter in Guizhou. It lasts for 10.5-11h or so during November, as the sun goes up at 07:02-07:23 and goes down at 18:00-18:10. For the drizzling Guizhou weather, the sunshine hours are not very long all the same. Averagely, sunshine hours are 3h only in November. Even so, the ultraviolet index is 3 – the moderate level for the high elevation, which is considerably strong during the month. Thus, sunscreen is still crucial in Guizhou in November.
 

 To adapt to the Guizhou climate in November, it’s advised to wear in layers, which is convenient to change your clothes. In early November, you can wear a blouse plus trench coat and sweatpants. Knitwear, thin sweater, denim jacket, windbreaker, jeans, etc. are also OK.

To late November, it’s suggested to wear thicker, with a suit of long johns, fleece hoodie or sweater, and waterproof outdoor jacket. Pants should also be somewhat thicker, and loose fleece pants are the best, which also make you not feel tense when climbing mountains. If you are afraid of coldness, warm winter clothes would be better, especially when it’s raining or at night.

It’s practical to choose waterproof hiking boots. Slip resistance is very important when you walk on the flagstone roads in an ancient town or ethnic village.

There is a reminder to take umbrella and raincoat with you.

A scarf is also useful, to protect yourselves from the coldness at night and winds on mountains.

As a mountainous region in China, Guizhou is a great destination for fall foliage in November, especially the first half of November. Fanjing Mountain, Hongfeng Lake in Guiyang, etc. are all perfect to enjoy colorful leaves in Guizhou.

The first half of November is still a nice time to visit Huoguoshu Waterfalls and more waterside attractions in Guizhou. Although the water volume is not as large as that during the flood season, it is still considerable. The drawdown period will come at the end of November. Meanwhile, there are less visitors compared with peak season.

Duan Festival of Shui ethnic group continues in the first half of November 2025, in Sandu, Qiannan of Guizhou. To late November, Miao people celebrate their New Year on Nov. 26th, 2025, when you can experience the festival at Langde and Xijiang Qianhu Miao Villages.
