Hong Kong Airport to Shenzhen Ferry

Taking a direct ferry is the most effortless way to travel from Hong Kong Airport to Shenzhen, especially for tourists carrying large luggage or traveling with little children, as they do not need to claim their luggage or clear customs upon landing until they reach the final port in Shenzhen. Without large passenger flow, it takes a shorter transfer time.

Only one ferry route is in service now, from Skypier Terminal, Hong Kong Airport to Shenzhen Shekou Cruise Homeport.

Who Can Take the Ferry to Shenzhen from Hong Kong Airport

It should be firstly clarified that only passengers arriving at Hong Kong Airport by air can use the ferry service; those who come from Hong Kong downtown cannot. That is to say, upon arrival, one must not go through customs to enter Hong Kong. At the same time, passengers only have the opportunity to take the ferry operating on the same day of your flight, based on the landing time.

How to Take the Ferry to Shenzhen at Hong Kong Airport

1. Prepare necessary documents: a. Passport; b. Flight ticket on the same day of the ferry departure you plan to take; c. Baggage tag, if you checked in your luggage for the flight landing in Hong Kong

2. Find the ferry ticket counter in Transfer Area E2 on Arrival Level, Terminal 1 following the direction signs “Mainland/Macao” and “Transfer Desks E2”. In addition to ferry ticket, you will get a new luggage receipt after completing all luggage transfer procedures. Online booking is feasible, via the official website or WeChat mini app of Chu Kong Passenger Transport.

Kind Reminder: Regardless of whether you have booked a ferry ticket in advance, whether you have checked your baggage, or whether the luggage will be directly sent to the final destination, you need to go to the counter for registration.

3. Have a rest at the waiting area, and get to Skypier Terminal by Automated People Mover Train in 3 minutes after the check-in starts, usually 30 minutes before setting off.

4. Board the ferry and start the sail.

5. Forty minutes later, the ferry docks at Shenzhen Shekou Cruise Homeport. You can claim your baggage and finally go through customs to enter Shenzhen.

Tips on Taking the Ferry to Shenzhen from Hong Kong Airport

1. Choose a proper ferry departure according to your flight landing time. The service counter is a 10-minute walk away from the landing point, and the luggage transfer closes 60 minutes before the ferry departure. You are advised to arrive at the counter at least 1 - 1.5 hours in advance; if you only have carry-on luggage, 40 minutes ahead is enough. If you are late for the planned ferry, it’s free of charge to change to a later one at the service counter.

Opening hours of the service counter: 6:30 - 21:15

2. You don’t need to book the ticket online too early, especially in unstable weather conditions, which affects both the flight and ferry a lot. It’s usually doable to buy one on site when you land at the airport.
