 The weather of Huangshan in August features high temperature all month long. The highest temperature is over 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) nearly every day, and it can even reach 39°C (102°F). The lowest temperature is basically higher than 25°C, and it’s still a little hot after sunset. On occasion, the city experiences temperature drops, which bring some coolness, and the highest temperature decreases below 30°C (86°F) but not lower than 20°C (68°F).
 In August, the climate of Huangshan is not very rainy. The precipitation is about 172 mm, and there are about 13 rainy days in this month. Main precipitation forms in the urban city are light rain and moderate rain, while in the Huangshan Mountain area, thunderstorms and hail can occur, leading to inconvenience in the climbing process and temporary suspension of cable car services.
 The humidity of Huangshan in August is about 78%, which is at a relatively high level. In hot August, Huangshan in such humidity is muggy, and people feel uncomfortably damp.
 Huangshan in August sees a gradual decrease in daytime from about 14 to 13 hours. The sunshine duration is about 8 hours long and the UV index is high at 6, so sun protection is necessary.
 From the perspective of comfort, August, 2026 isn’t a good month to visit Huangshan. To stay in the high-temperature environment for sightseeing is not a pleasant thing. Besides, August is in the summer holiday, when tourists flood into attractions and accommodation prices increase a lot.
  Summer clothes: Short-sleeved shirts, shorts, and dresses made of quick-dry materials. In view of intense UV rays, a sun-protective jacket is needed.

 Breathable shoes: Non-slippery sandals, flats, and sneakers are suitable shoes in the city area. To climb the Huangshan Mountain, opt for hiking shoes.

 Requisites: A handheld fan, mosquito repellent, and raingear.

 Note: For some activities in cooler periods in a day, such as viewing stars or sunrise, it’s better to add an outdoor jacket and wear long pants.
 1. Sunny, rainy, and foggy weather conditions may exist in the Huangshan Mountain in a day, and you’d better be mentally prepared for sudden changes of the weather.

2. For a more comfortable tour in Huangshan, you can consider enjoying outdoor sightseeing when the weather is not that scorching in a day. For example, you’re suggested to get up early to stroll in the Hongcun Ancient Village. There are fewer tourists at dawn, and you can admire quaint residences in a serene atmosphere. As the weather gets less sunbaked in the late afternoon, Bao's Family Garden and Tangyue Memorial Archway are good places to feel charm of plants and architecture. At sunny noon or on rainy days, you can choose to visit more indoor attractions, such as museums in the Tunxi Old Street.

3. In Chengkan Village, lotus flowers are still blooming and harvest season also begins. In this month, it’s highly possible to view delicate flowers in the lake, and also red, yellow, and orange crops sun-dried on the square.
