Beijing – Baotou Train vs. Flight

High speed train runs faster, so it saves more time for travellers and the tickt price is cost-efficiency. It is the first-choice of most travelers.

Direct flights are available between the two cities, taking around 1.5 hours for a single trip. But counting in the travel time to/from the airport, the total travel time is no big difference from the high speed train travel time. Full price for an economy class seat is about CNY810 - 890 based on the different airports. Usually, when the airlines offer discounts, the ticket fare for an economy class seat may be low to CNY250 – CNY450.

Overnight sleeper trains are also good choices as they can save the day time and one-night hotel expenses. With a hard or soft sleeper, passengers can lie down to have a good rest as well. They are prefered by many budget travelers.

The high speed trains only take 3.5 or 4 hours, which take much shorter time. If you prefer the overnight train, train K41 20:45/ 09:02 +1 and K597 21:32/ 09:32 are all good choices, they save your day time and also can save one night’s hotel accommodation. The sleeper berth is highly recommended.

Train Z317/ Z318 Beijing to Baotou
Is Baotou the final stop of the train? I want to confirm it so I would not need to worry about checking the stations along the way.

Yes, it is indeed the final stop! You can just get off at the last stop. Z types hardly delay so you will know when the scheduled arrival time is approaching. If you booked a sleeper bed, the staff will also come to you to exchange your boarding pass to remind you to get off at your stop.

What does the mark "+" means in timetable?
The trains are very likely delayed?

No, it only means the second day. If it is 8:00+, then the arrival time will be the second day of departure at 8am. However, yes, normal slow rides sometimes delays, but not always.
