Currently, About 15 high speed trains run between Changsha and Zhangjiajie with a travel time of 2.5 - 3.5 hours. Also, there are over 5 pairs of normal speed trains running between the two cities. The duration for this popular tourist route is around 3.5 to 6 hours. Every year, thousands of travelers bounce to Zhangjiajie for the amazing scenery. With not too many direct rail service available, Changsha is one of the most frequently used city for transfer.

Travel Tips:

1. All these rides depart or stop at Changsha Railway Station, the main station located at No. 406 Mid Chezhan Road, Furong District. Travelers need to distinguish it from the South Railway Station.
2. Although it is a trip for 4.5 to 6 hours, if traveling overnight, it is still recommended to have a sleeper bed to guarantee a good rest. If the sleeper bed sold out for overnight ride, a hard seat for day time ride can be a back up option which allows you to enjoy the countryside view along the way.
3. There are Express Buses from Zhangjiajie Railway Station to different scenic spots in Wulingyuan. The bus ride would cost around CNY11 to 15 per person. The departure interval is 10 minutes to an hour based on number of travelers.

Time from airport to train station

I reach Changsha airport at 10.50pm. Is that enough time to get to the Changsha railway station for train departing at 2.10am?

Generally, it takes about 1 hour from the airport to the railway station by airport bus. So the time is enough.

Train from Changsha to Zhangjiajie

Hello~
Is C8034 train is currently operating between Changsha to Zhangjiajie?
I need to book 4 first class tickets; however this train # does not appear on the 4/15/2020 timetable?
Perhaps it's too early?

The train is already in service, however, as a new route, only trains in recent dates are confirmed. The schedule for further dates are not posted yet. You can recheck and make booking later when the date is more approaching.

Can you please advise us if this schedule is workable or not?

We plan to take T8324 at 08:15 to catch G2369 at 1:27pm to Chengdu East.

This route is not workable, T8324 will stop at Changsha Station at 12:40pm, G2369 departs from South Station instead. They are different stations. You cannot reach the South Station in time to catch G2369. You need a later train, at least after 2pm.

From Zhangjiajie to Shanghai

HI, how many day do we need to explore zhangjiajie? can we go direct to shanghai from Zhangjiajie? by what transportation? Or is it closer to beijing rather than to Shanghai from zhangiajie?

Maybe around 3 or 4 days in Zhangjiajie. In fact Shanghai is a little bit closer than Beijing. There is normal rides from both Beijing and Shanghai but takes almost a day on the way. You may consider flight.

What is a soft seat? What's difference between soft seat and hard seat?

Not a big difference with hard seat, but indeed larger space and less passengers in the carriage. Soft seat is 2+2 form, 2 seats on each side and passengers sit face to face with a small table between.
