Chongqing - Kunming Train

At present, about 15 pairs of high speed trains are available for passengers between Chongqing and Kunming, which run with the distance of around 800 kilometers (about 500 miles). It takes about 4 - 5 hours for a single trip and costs CNY 341.5 - 357 for a second class seat.

Besides, two pairs of normal speed trains run between the two cities with the duration of 12 to 14.5 hours, and you need to pay CNY 237.5 for a hard sleeper ticket.

Running Route of Chongqing - Kunming High Speed Train

1. Chongqing West - Guiyang: This is Chongqing-Guiyang Railway which formally opened on January 25th in 2018. The major stations along this way include Luohuang South, Qijiang East, Ganshui East, Tongzi North, Loushanguan South, Zunyi, Longkeng, Xifeng, Xiuwenxian, Luowan Sanjiang, and Guiyang East. Since it is a normal speed railway, the top speed of the bullet trains running on it can only be 200 km/h (124 mph).

2. Guiyang - Kunming South: It is a section of Shanghai - Kunming High Speed Railway and the major stations along the part include Pingba South, Anshun West, Guanling, Panzhou, Fuyuan North, Qujing North, Songming. The top speed of the high speed ones running on it can reach 300 km/h (186 mph).

Is the subway already in service at Chongqing West Station?

I cannot find detailed information online anywhere?

Not yet, bus and taxi are still the only 2 option. Or you may take a taxi to the nearest metro station and then use the metro service. The cost would be much lower.

Can I choose to alright at Kunming Station which is closer to my hotel?

It fully depends on the train type you will take. If by high speed type, for this trip, Kunming South Station is the only option. If for K1501 and K691, they use the main station near city center.

Taxi fare from Kunming south railway station to Kunming Changshui international airport?

I will take the G2889 from Chongqing to Kunming. Is there any public transportation from the south railway station to the airport? What’s the taxi fare?

Your train will arrive at 22:41, and I’m afraid there is no public transportation at that time. The taxi fee is around CNY130 at night.
