If you do not like rail ride, flight is available between Kunming and Lijiang and it only takes around 1 hour, to 1h 10m at most. But the ticket price is much higher.

Long-distance buses are also running among the two cities. However, it is not advised to take because the duration is no less than rail ride, the ticket price is close to a soft sleeper in a rail carriage although it is not as comfortable and spacious as a soft sleeper, and it is not that safe as a rail ride.

Recommended Kunming - Dali - Lijiang Railway Trip

As the most-go tourist cities in Yunnan, Kunming and Dali are connected by bullet train routes which only takes 2.5 hours. After touring around Kunming and before going to Lijiang, tourists can choose to head to Dali first by train, then extend the trip to Lijiang.

China T-Union Metro card

We understand this metro card China T-Union can be used in many cities in China, so can it be used in Kunming. If yes, where to buy it. Regard this card YikaTong, where can it be used in China besides Kunming.

The transportation card with China T-Union in Kunming is called Zhihuitong （智慧通）， and you can get one at the service center of Kungming metro stations. But I'm not sure whether you can get one with your passport.

It's called Yikatong (一卡通) and you can buy one at the service center of any metro station.

Lijiang Ancient Old town

From Lijiang Railway station, you need to take the Lijiang Ancient Town Direct Bus to Nanmen Street, then walk northward for 1km to Wuyi Rd. What's bus no. should we take & how to get to this hotel - Jianshe Inn, Wuyi Road because we check Google Maps & Bing Maps as both cannot show us.

The Chinese name of the direct bus is "丽江古城直通车" and you can find it at the exit of the railway station. Upon arrival at Nanmen Street, you need to walk for 1km to the hotel, or find a local tricycle to get to the hotel at a certain cost.

What's subway line should we take to get to Guandu Ancient Old Town & the exit.

The nearest metro station is Xingyao Road of metro line 1. From the Exit B2 of the station, walk southward and turn left to take bus no. 261 to 新宝象河桥站, then walk to the north to the ancient town.

Lijiang HSR

Its 07/05/2024 in Lijiang still consider high season or normal for booking HSR tickets thru the counter.

No. It's the normal season. This year, the May Day holiday is from May 1st to 5th.
