Hangzhou - Zhangjiajie Train

At present, Hangzhou - Zhangjiajie high speed trains are not available. Only 2 pairs of normal speed trains are in service between the two tourist destinations for a distance of 1,406 kilometers (874 miles). It is a long journey with the duration of 16 - 18 hours. Making a transfer in Changsha or taking a flight will be a better back-up choice if you do not want to travel that long time. Many pairs of high speed trains are available between Hangzhou and Changsha and both high speed & normal speed trains and buses run between Changsha and Zhangjiajie, which makes an easy transfer.

Transfer via Changsha

If you do not want to take the overnight K types, you can have a transfer in Changsha. In this case, getting to your destination within a day will be possible, and the whole duration is about 10 hours or so. There are nearly 40 pairs Hangzhou - Changsha High Speed Trains, providing passengers more choices.

Note:
For this route, passengers need to transfer between Changsha Railway Station and Changsha South Railway Station, but they are conveniently connected by Subway Line 2, which takes about 30 min.

Hangzhou - Zhangjiajie Trains VS. Flights

Flight is also a good choice for the transportation between the two cities. There are only two direct flights available on every day. For example, from Hangzhou to Zhangjiajie, HO1821 (18:20 - 20:45) is in service, which is operated by Juneyao Air. The flight takes 2h25m. Sometime, the airline company will release a quite attractive discount according to their sales status, like 60% off ticket, which costs only CNY 560 per ticket including the tax. The full price reaches CNY 1,250 per one. Therefore, if you plan a trip between Hangzhou and Zhangjiajie, please compare the train fare and airfare beforehand, and then decide which one is the most suitable and economical way for you. Of course, if you have to travel on days without direct flights, it’s better to take a high speed train transfer in Changsha.

Hello, we will be staying at TRAVELLING WITH x JNBYHOME in Hangzhou Xihu district

We are wondering if it is far from Hangzhou East Station? Is there anyone know the approximate cost for taxi service?

The distance to East Railway Station is around 11km, 30min by taxi. The costs may be around CNY40.

Booking a soft sleeper compartment for our family

We are a group of 5 passenger, one is a 2 year old baby. Since the baby do not need a ticket, I think soft sleeper is our best option? However, can I can make sure we will stay together to have one compartment privately? I read that the beds are given randomly. It means our family will be separated? If this is the situation, I would need to think of flight instead. Hope for your reply!

Although the beds are offered randomly by railway system, when there are still many beds for sale, it is usually no problem to get 4 beds together in same cabin. But if there are very limited beds for sale, this chance is hard to say. You can leave us this bed request in our booking form and we will notice it and do our best. In case, there is no whole cabin left, we will inform you first and waiting for your idea.

Can I collect tickets for both Hangzhou/Changsha and Changsha/Zhangjiajie in Hangzhou?

Yes, you can collect them together before your first trip. There is no extra fee. You need to offer the staff the pick up numbers for both trip, and passport as well!
