Clothes: During the day, a long-sleeved T-shirt plus a warm windproof jacket or a thin knitwear plus a trench coat will be more than enough. If you plan to go out for a visit early in the morning or go back to the hotel in late evening, you are advised to add a waistcoat between the shirt and the jacket or change the trench coat to a 3-in-1 jacket. In terms of the bottom, sweatpants and jeans are both OK for daytime, while long johns may be needed to add at nighttime.

Shoes: Relatively thick sneakers, walking shoes, and comfortable casual shoes are all good choices in warm April.

2. Sunscreen is recommended to bring, which is useful on some sunny afternoons with intense sunlight.
3. You may feel dry during your stay, and you’d better bring moisturizing cream to prevent your skin from drying and a portable water bottle to stay hydrated.
4. For those who are allergic to pollen, remember to prepare some medicine in advance in addition to masks, since April is the time when various flowers bloom in Beijing.

Tips for Visiting Beijing in April

From April 3 to 5 in 2026, the Chinese people usually have a three-day off from work for Qingming Festival, and at the end of the month, the Chinese start to prepare for their May Day holiday. During these two periods, Beijing will welcome more tourists, and train and air tickets will be more difficult to book.
