Guangzhou - Tianjin Train

Only 7 pairs of normal trains run between Guangzhou / Guangzhou East Railway Station and Tianjin Railway Station with duration of 22.5 – 28 hours. Ticket fare for a hard sleeper is CNY456/477.5. The distance is about 2,100 kilometers (1,305 miles).

Direct high speed trains are not available at the moment. But there are many transfer options including Wuhan, Zhengzhou and Beijing, among which Beijing is the most popular. By transferring in Beijing for high speed train connection, the travel time can be shortened to 8.5-11.5 hours.

Passengers can also travel by high speed trains between Guangzhou and Tianjin, but a transfer in Beijing or Wuhan is needed.

Guangzhou – Tianjin Trains vs. Flight

Currently, the quickest way to travel between the two cities should be flights, taking about 3 hours. Based on different seasons, discounts are offered by the airlines and the ticket fare for an economy class varies from CNY500 to CNY1,000. For passengers who travel in a hurry, flights will be the first choice.

Compared with normal speed trains, bullet trains can save much time and they are more punctual. Scenery along the way can be a feast for the eyes.  

The normal speed overnight sleeper trains are more popular among budget travelers as they are much cheaper, and can save one-night accommodation fee and day time.

Is G296 a direct train or I still need to transfer in Wuhan or Beijing?
By the way, will the station open at 6am?

This G296 is a direct ride to Tianjin, you do not need to transfer at Wuhan or Beijing. You only need to get off at the final stop. The station works according to the train schedule. Since G296 departs at 6:28am, the station should open around 5:30am. Please rest assured.
