Guilin – Kunming Train vs. Flight

As an alternative, passengers can also travel between the two cities by direct flight, taking about 1.5 – 2 hours. This is be the first choice for those who are pressed for time, but only a few flights are operated each day. The full ticket fare for an economy class is about CNY1,100, but the airlines may offer 20%-60% discount in most cases. In this case, flights will be competitive.

Compared with flights, high speed trains take a longer time, but a high speed rail trip will be much cheaper. As this is a popular tourist route, traveling by bullet trains provides passengers a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.

Normal trains take the longest time, but for budget travelers, this is a quite good choice to save money. By the way, a soft sleeper or hard sleeper allows passengers to lie down for a good rest.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Child under 120cm do not need to buy a ticket if sharing seats with adults. Although the seats are assigned randomly by railway system, usually it is still OK to get seats together as long as there are still suitable seats left for sale. You can inform us this seat request as a remark when submit online booking. We will be able to notice it and follow your request. Thank you.

There could be a morning rush around 7 or 8am, but should not be too hard. The time needed should be within 40min. The cost should be around CNY30.

Why is the ticket fare on D type even higher than G type?
And D type takes longer time! Is it possible to find a ticket on G312, I do prefer this faster one.

The price is also counted by distance, not only G or D type. If it runs longer distance, the price is higher. The tickets on G312 is indeed harder to get. When the departure date is coming, there might be some more free tickets released. You can have a try of your luck at that time if you do want G312.
