Chengdu Weather in March

Season: early spring
 On the whole, the weather of Chengdu is gradually getting warm in March. The daytime high temperature climbs to around 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit) by the end of the month from around 15℃ (59℉) at the beginning. During the process, occasional cold air can cause a sudden drop in temperature, by 6 - 10℃ (10.2 - 18℉). In this case, people often feel that it returns to winter. Generally, three to five days later, it warms up again. 

Day-night temperature difference remains large and often exceeds 10℃ (18℉). In the morning and evening, it is still a little cold, with an average temperature of 8 - 13℃ (46.4 55.4℉). The ever-changing temperature within a day is just like the changing face of local Sichuan opera. 
There are averagely 11 rainy days in March in Chengdu, but the total precipitation is not large, only 20 mm (0.8 in) on average. Mostly, they are drizzles or light rain, and heavy rain or rainstorms hardly occur. Night rainfall is a common phenomenon: sometimes the weather looks good during the day, but at night it starts to drizzle. So, the next morning when you go out, you can often see wet ground. 
 The sun rises at 6:54 - 7:30 and sets at 19:02 - 19:21, offering about 11.5 - 12.5 hours of daytime for sightseeing. It’s sufficient for most travelers, but if you want to visit more attractions in a day, make a tight arrangement.

However, the sunshine length is not pleasing. People can bask in the sun for only about 3 - 4 hours per day. It’s not easy to encounter a transparent sky with bright sunlight; gray and cloudy climate takes the majority in March in Chengdu. With a low evaporation rate and a lot of cloudy days, the air humidity remains a high 70% averagely. When sunny days appear surprisingly, many locals take the opportunity for outings and admiring flowers.
