Day 1 Arrival in Beijing
Upon your arrival in Beijing today, your two weeks China tour package gets started. Our outstanding guide and experienced driver will be ready at the airport in accordance with your flight schedule. You will find the guide conveniently awaiting you at the airport exit after you go through Customs and get your checked luggage. Drive to the well-found hotel for registration. For the rest time of the day, you may relax or set out by yourself.
Day 2 Beijing
Our clients at the Great Wall
Our capital city always has much more to offer. Tiananmen Square, the largest urban square in the world, will be the first stop of your 2 week China tour. Half an hour is left for you to walk around on the square and take some nice photos. Moving across the Changan' street, you can find the Forbidden City, which was the imperial palace of 24 emperors from the Ming and Qing dynasties. You will know more about Chinese history and majestic imperial power through visiting this ancient palace complex.

For your initial foray into Chinese cuisine, we have chosen a reputed local restaurant where you can taste authentic Chinese food. It is in a la carte style (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) and the guide will introduce you the ingredients and recipes and help you order dishes.

In the afternoon, you will first visit the Temple of Heaven. It was a sacred place, where the emperors used to hold ceremonies to sacrifice to the God, and thus receive blessings for an abundant harvest. Then you will take a rickshaw through the traditional Hutong alleys. The unique courtyards of a Hutong and people living there endow the city with a sense of 'old' and tranquility, but it is the real image of the local people.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, A la carte lunch

Our Travel Consultant Kelly with her clients
People who come to our capital should not miss the Great Wall. Today we will arrange for you to visit one of the most elite parts of the Great Wall at Mutianyu, with a round trip cable car. However, if you are interested in taking an alpine slide down, we can also arrange it for you. We kindly remind you to wear a pair of comfortable shoes since you need to hike on the wall for about two hours. Standing on it, you will see the long wall under your feet snaking along the mountain ranges, just like a huge dragon creeping along the undulations of the mountains, what a spectacular view! Lunch is arranged on your own today. In this remote mountain area, there are no high quality restaurants, but some small ones and fast-food chains that can easily fill your stomach.

In the afternoon, we will transfer you back to downtown Beijing. On the way, you will have a chance to see the Bird's Nest (the National Stadium of the 2008 Olympics) at close quarters and take some photos. Moreover, you will also have some time to explore a featured local market before returning to the hotel.

Passing through the Wu Gorge on the cruise is like putting yourself in a gallery which has the biggest stage in the world. You will disembark at Badong for an excursion to the Shennong Stream. A pea-boat floating along the verdant Shennong Stream is scheduled for you, which can be quite a different experience. As the whole junk adventure will last about 3 to 4 hours, you will have lunch a little bit late in the early afternoon. We suggest you have a big breakfast today or bring some snacks with you. When you disembark for the excursion, you can also buy some fruits from the vendors along the way. Then get back to your ship and continue sailing into western section of the Xiling Gorge, the last part of the downstream cruise. It was once the most dangerous part of the river because of the numerous reefs, riffles, decharges and rocks. But after years of rectification and improvement on the riverway, and the building of the Gezhou Dam, the current became gentle and mild.

We took a private tour as our timing did not coincide with any of the other tours. We did follow the classic schedule with changes due to their 70th anniversary. It was a great tour. All the guides and drivers were very courteous and professional. We wish to thank and recommend all our guides and drivers. We had May Liu and Mr. Lu in Beijing; Carol Chen in Xian; Julie Wan in Guilin; Spring in Chongqing; and Ryan in Shanghai. All of them were very knowledgeable and friendly. All the accommodations were quite nice. The transfers were smooth. All of our guides took very good care of us. All the venues were excellent. ... More

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 1/2 week tour of China that included Beijing, xi’an, Guilin, the Yangtze River cruise and Shanghai. This was a fantastic trip during which we saw so much beauty. It was very informative and fun. We have to thank our wonderful tour company Travel China Guide which made a tour for the two of us, providing guides and drivers for us in each place. Everyone was great! We are older and had special needs and all the guides were not only knowledgeable about China and the sites but also flexible and helpful beyond our expectations. Really everyone working for this company was perfect. That may sound overdone but it is true. Brian in Beijing made it possible for me to walk on the Great Wall although I am 73 . Jeff in Shanghai arranged a trip to a hospital for my husband when he needed to see a doctor and went to a lot of trouble to get a wheelchair for him at the airport home. Lee in Guilin not only had bottles of water ready for us every day but took them home the night before and put them in her freezer so they would be cold. Jacky in Guilin made out trip to the Terra Cotta warriors easy and memorable. I highly recommend this company!! ... More

It was a great journey and we came back with much more knowledge of China and its history.

We were always met on time by the various guides at the airports; never had to wait for them. To have a guide and a driver was fantastic; we felt we could spend as much or as little time as we wanted without any problems. The guides were all very knowledgeable (sometimes too much - it's hard to remember everything said) and curious and most went out of their way to accommodate our wishes. Of all the guides, Heidy in Yangshuo was by far the cutest and nicest of them all. Thanks to her and to the agency for remembering my birthday and giving me a gift - that was very nice and surprising.

I must confess that I was a little worried about having done the whole reservation through the Internet and also sending a big amount of money to somebody I had not met before. However, everything went well. Also I want to thank Sophie for her personally coming and greeting us at the lunch in Xian. That was very nice.

We really enjoyed our tour in China. All of us were extremely satisfied and wish to thank TRAVEL CHINA GUIDE for the good services. This tour was according our expectations, giving a general vision of the variety of China and its people.

Two periods were particularly appreciated: the Yangtze cruise and the stay in Guilin.

Two guides were above the others: Danny in Guilin and Peter in Shanghai.

Thanks again. I will contact the company for a future tour and recommend our consultant Kelly’s organisation to friends. ... More
