Hong Kong - Jinan High Speed Train
Hong Kong and Jinan have been connected by high speed railway but none high speed trains run through currently. To travel by high speed train between Hong Kong and Jinan, one needs to transfer in cities like Changsha, Hangzhou, Zhengzhou, or Shijiazhuang. The transfer choices may differ every day and it is suggested to choose the most convenient way based on the real-time schedule. It takes about 11.5 - 13.5 hours to finish the distance of 2,146 kilometers (1,333 miles). The ticket price for a second class seat is around CNY 1,200 (USD 170).

It is obvious that direct flights take less travel time for passengers when comparing with high speed trains. However, the ticket fare by flying is much higher than by train though flight can be a budget travel option when there is a special discount. ReplyWould you please kindly tell which station is closer to our hotel Grand Mercure Jinan Sunshine?
The hotel page says they are near downtown, so we suppose we should choose Jinan Station?

00ReplyYes, you are right! The hotel is indeed closer to the main station, maybe around 6km. It is very convenient to use taxi which should cost around CNY20 by meter.

If departs from HK West Kowloon Station, we suggest you to be at the around 2 hours in advance to have enough time for ticket collection and immigration check. With paper ticket in hand, you may reach the station around 70 to 80min in advance.
For other stations in China mainland, it would be better if you can reach the station around 1.5 hours for ticket collection and boarding. With paper ticket in hand, 40min would be OK. Hope this information can help you.

00ReplyPersonally speaking, I think Shijiazhuang is a good city for transfer. HK-Shijiazhuang-Jinan. You can take G80 to Shijiazhuang and then there are many high speed rides to continue the trip to Jinan. The ticket price can be lowered to around CNY1,119.5 per person.
