1) The trains to Jinan depart from Shanghai Railway Station (50km away) and Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station (60km away). The last train from SH railway station leaves at 17:55, so you need to hurry up after landing.
2) Currently, China railway tickets are available 15 days prior to departure.

I suppose you will land by an international flight right? You need time for passport control and to claim your luggage first, so at least 1 hour should be necessary. Then you need a shuttle bus or metro to reach Shanghai Hongqiao Station. This transfer may take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Then, another point is that you need to prepare 1.5 hours at station to buy a ticket or to exchange the pre-booked ticket. Considering these process, you could only have a try of the last trainG298 ay 6:09pm.

How long it takes to go from JI Hotel Jinan Quancheng Square to Jinan West
I plan to catch a train at 10:17am. How long it takes on the way by taxi? Will there be a traffic problem as I will travel in weekday? Do you think 8am departure from hotel is workable?

Normally it should take around 30 to 40min by taxi from the hotel. Considering another 1.5 hours at station, if you depart from hotel at 8am, it should be OK. If you already have paper tickets, it would be even better. It may save you another 30min.

First class seat on train G8 and G2
I want to buy first class on G8 and G2, but no tickets available. Will there be more tickets later? Or they are no longer available?

This G8 and G2 are fastest one so they are very popular. Also, their final station is Beijing, not Jinan. Usually tickets to Beijing are under greater demands so the tickets are offered to travelers to Beijing first. If there can be free seats left, they will be sold to passengers to other stations. There could be a chance to have more seats, but personally speaking, it is a small chance. So if possible, maybe it is safer to get a ticket on other rides.

Tai'an station is for high speed rides, if you take soft sleeper on normal types, you would stop at Taishan Railway Station instead. There are about 12 rides a day. YOu can input the cities and date on this website for the detailed schedule and price
