Xi'an Tourist Bus

In Xi'an, 15 tourist bus lines are in service, providing convenient transport for travelers. Usually, these buses can be easily recognized by their numbers marked with the character '游' (You) which means 'Tourist'. Most of the attractions in the urban area, such as the Bell Tower, Shaanxi History Museum and Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, are linked by the tourist lines. In addition, the transportation to destinations in the suburbs, such as Terracotta Army Museum can also be dependent on these buses.

Note: At present, lines 1, 2 and 3 are temporarily closed, and the re-opening time has not been decided.

Besides the public tourist buses, joining a guided tour offered by TravelChinaGuide.com is a good choice to save time and cover the major attractions in one day.

One day tours with low prices, to Terracotta Warriors Museum, Xi'an City Wall, Mt. Huashan, Qianling Mausoleum, and Famen Temple.

Tourist Line 5 to Terracotta Army Museum

Duration: 60 minutes

 Tips on Line 5:

1. As a busy tour line, Line 5 is also frequently used by local citizens and the universities' students. Therefore, you may find it is difficult to take the buses on weekends.  In order to release the pressure, there are alternatives of suburban lines of No. 914 and No. 915, which can be taken at the Sanfuwan Coach Station.

2. During holidays like weekends and National Day Holiday, there will be more schedules. However, the ticket fare during holidays may be increased by CNY1 to CNY2.

3. After arriving at the Fangzhicheng Coach Station, you may find that some people recommend their buses or ask whether you need a bus to the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horse. They are some private tour guides of good faith, but don’t show any interest in them! Just keep away from them or say 'No!' loudly.

Take metro line 1 from Beidajie station to Fangzhicheng station (Exit A), then walk south around 200m to Fangzhicheng Hub Bus Station. From there you can take direct bus to scenic area.

Huashan visit
I will be at Xi An 26-30 Oct and would like to visit Huashan either 28/10 or 30/10 based to avoid crowd on weekends. Noted that high speed train is the best way to go Huashan but the earliest train at 0626 was sold out on these days. May I know any other public transport that I can take to arrive Huashan by 7am, just nice to catch the first cable car as we are concern more people after 8am. Thanks

You can go to Xi'an Railway station, then take direct bus from there to Huashan directly. But the first bus departs at 7:30.

We would like to visit Hua Shan from central Xi'an on 23 or 24 October 2019.
Is the information about the Tourist Bus to Mt. Huashan the same at that time of year? what time would you recommend going to the bus-stop to maximise getting a place and minimise likely waiting time?

I note you have adviced another questionner to use the high-speed train, but I've been told that you should go to the high-speed station one and a half hours before the departure time. Is this correct? The trains seem to be almost booked up - is there a reason for this (eg. national holiday, fewer trains than in summer)

1. Nowadays, there is only one bus from east square of train station to Huashan and it departs at 8:00.
2. The most common and convenient way to Huashan: Take high speed train from Xi'an North Railway station to Huashan North Railway station. It takes only 40 minutes on the way and there are over 20 trains every day, while 2 hours by bus. After you arrive Huashan North station, you can take free bus to scenic area directly. It is not true you have to go to high speed train station one and a half hours in advance. Actually, you can take metro line 2 to Xi'an North station directly. It is easy and fast to go through security and to take your train.

From your hotel, walk southeast around 400 meters to get to Minleyuan Bus Stop. Take bus no.251 to the Main Railway Station. Then take tourist bus line 5 (No.306) from East Square to Terracotta Army. Hope helpful!

From Xi'an Railway Station, you can take bus No.104 from Xizhakou Station to West Coach Station, and then you can take direct bus from there to Qianling.
