Xi'an Tourist Bus

In Xi'an, 15 tourist bus lines are in service, providing convenient transport for travelers. Usually, these buses can be easily recognized by their numbers marked with the character '游' (You) which means 'Tourist'. Most of the attractions in the urban area, such as the Bell Tower, Shaanxi History Museum and Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, are linked by the tourist lines. In addition, the transportation to destinations in the suburbs, such as Terracotta Army Museum and Mt. Huashan, can also be dependent on these buses.

Note: At present, lines 1, 2 and 3 are temporarily closed, and the re-opening time has not been decided.

Besides the public tourist buses, joining a guided tour offered by TravelChinaGuide.com is a good choice to save time and cover the major attractions in one day.

One day tours with low prices, to Terracotta Warriors Museum, Xi'an City Wall, Mt. Huashan, Qianling Mausoleum, and Famen Temple.

 Tips on Line 5:

1. As a busy tour line, Line 5 is also frequently used by local citizens and the universities' students. Therefore, you may find it is difficult to take the buses on weekends. In order to release the pressure, there are alternatives of suburban lines of No. 914 and No. 915, which can also be taken at the East Square of the Railway Station. Also, bus line 307 from Tang City Wall Zone 9 Bus Station is also available to get Terracotta Army.

2. During holidays like weekends and National Day Holiday, there will be more schedules. Buses leave at intervals of around 5 minutes then. However, the ticket fare during holidays may be increased by CNY1 to CNY2.

3. After arriving at the railway station, you may find that some people recommend their buses or ask whether you need a bus to the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horse. They are some private tour guides of good faith, but don’t show any interest in them! Just keep away from them or say 'No!' loudly.

Hi, I'm planning to travel from Xi'an to Qianling Mausoleum for a day trip.
Understand that Tourist Line 3 is no longer in operation. I found that I'm supposed to go to Chengxi Passenger Transport Terminal 西安城西客运站 and take a bus to Qian County 乾县. I found some mix answers on the bus timings and is very confuse (one indicated once every hour, while another only states there's only one bus at 3pm per day). Anyone knows actual the frequency of the bus timings?

Also from Qian County 乾县, I'm supposed to take a Local Bus 2 to Qianling Mausoleum? Where can I find Local Bus 2?

Don’t worry, there are many regular buses to Qian County from the bus station. As I remember, the last one leaves at 19:00.
Local bus 2 can be found in front of the bus station, it’s easy to find!

Hi Max, thank you for the reply! Do you happen to know the bus number too?
Are you working in Xi'an or have just been there?
Answered by Max from SINGAPORE | Mar. 25, 2018 20:53

I’ve visited the city last year, and I happen to get the bus schedule. But the bus number doesn’t matter, since it’s the regular bus and you just need to choose at which time you would like to take it.
Answered by Valerie from SINGAPORE | Mar. 26, 2018 09:40

Hi Max, thanks again for the answer. How about the timing for returning buses back to Xi'An? Are they on regular 30 minutes interval too?

As well, how's your visit to the caves? How many cave are we actually allow to visit? I think there's 3 to 4 caves open now? Do we need a guide to enter the cave? The website does not seems to provide much information.
