Charismatic Travel Itinerary

10 Days of Kunming - Fuxianhu Lake - Jianshui - Yuanyang - Luchun - Jiangcheng - Simao - Jinghong
This about 1,000-kilometer (621-mile) journey from Kunming to Jinhong almost in the south end of Yunnan is relatively flat and full of charming beauties. Set off from Kunming, you will take the No.213 National Highway southward to the Fuxianhu Lake of Chengjiang County in the first day. Out of Kunming about 50 kilometers (31 miles), you will come to the foot of the Liangwang Mountain which is the first mountain in this journey. It is just 2,800 meters (9,186 feet) in height that you will get to Fuxianhu Lake as soon as descending down. In the remaining time today, you could enjoy the beautiful Fuxianhu Lake leisurely and then stay over in a budget inn nearby the lake.
Early on next morning, you will continue this journey southward to Lihaozhai, passing by Jiangchuan and Tonghai. In morning, the road from Fuxianhu to Jiangchuan is so charming that you can enjoy the breath taking sunrise and the blooming flowers even in winter. Later, you could have a lunch and rest in Jiangchuan. Then, you will have to spend more time to finish the mountain road from Jiangchuan to Tonghai. Leaving from Tonghai and climbing up the mountain, you will find that the wide Red River is running at your foot. From here, you will enter the Honghe Hani & Yi Autonomous Region. After another section of rolling mountain road, you will arrive in Lihaozhai almost before night.
On the next day, it will just take a short time to get to Jianshui before lunch after finishing the 20-kilometer (12-mile) downhill road. You can explore this ancient town leisurely today and have a good rest for the next day's excursion.

The following destination is Yuanyang which is about 120 kilometer (75 miles) from Jianshui. Firstly, you have to climb up the 18-kilometer uphill road to Potou where you will enter into the area of the Ailaoshan Mountain. It has an altitude of about 2,000 meters (6,562 feet). Later, you will take a long downhill but soon another uphill mountain road to Nansha Town of Yuanyang. The scenic along this journey is changeful that you will have a special experience.
Set off from Nansha, you will go over one 1,700-meter (5,577-foot) peak of Ailaoshan Mountain. The uphill road is about 40 kilometers (25 miles) but the following Ailao Terrace of Hani people is worth a visit. In the afternoon, you will arrive in Xinjie Town of Yuanyang. Here, you can stay to explore those grand terraces or continue to the next destination Laomeng Town for a night. The next day, you will take a 40-kilometer mountain road to Huangcaoling firstly and then finally arrive in Lvchun County which is well-know for the Hani culture.
The following destination is Jiangcheng County. However, you have to spend one day to get to Daheishan. It is about 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Lvchun along the river. This journey is relatively easy that there is only 20-kilometer uphill road. Afterwards, you will finish a 60-kilometer (37-mile) journey to Jiangcheng the next day. The road condition today is not so good and there is a 40-kilometer rough uphill road.

The successive 150-kilometer (93-mile) excursion to Simao of Puer City is changeling but the road is much flatter and the beauty along the river is worthy. Today, you will arrive in Simao almost at night. A one-day tour in this noted city in the Ancient Tea Route is suggested, such as visiting the Ximahe Park for tea garden.
On the last day, you will conclude the journey in Jinghong which is about 150 kilometers to the south of Simao. En route, you will have an opportunity to visit the Wild Elephant Valley in Mengyang.
