Chengdu - Chongqing Train

There are nearly 150 pairs of bullet trains running between Chengdu and Chongqing. The duration is 1 - 3 hours, and a ride on a second class seat of G types and D types trains cost CNY 56 - 237. G8763 is not recommended because its travel time is about 6 hours and the second class seat costs CNY 418, more expensive than others.

There are also 6 or so pairs of normal types shuttling between the two cities with duration of 3 - 5 hours. The ticket fare of a hard sleeper is CNY 104.5.

Although the normal types cost less compared with bullet types, there are less departures or arrivals, and the environment in the carriages is not good. If you choose hard seats, especially during the holidays, it will be rather crowded and make you tiresome. Thus, if possible, you'd better choose bullet type. However, if you have no other choice rather than normal types, you'd better purchase a sleeper even though it's a short journey. The sleeper will be more comfortable and you can have a more comfortable trip.
 Passengers can take a coach to travel from one city to the other and the ticket fare is almost the same as the second class seats on bullet trains. But it takes about 4.5 hours, a longer and not that comfortable journey, compared with a high speed rail trip.
