Guangzhou - Chengdu Train

Totally there are 18 trains a day from Guangzhou to Chengdu and 16 trains for vice versa. Among them, 9 pairs of high speed trains take 9.5 to 10.5 hours. Others are normal trains. They take much longer time, around 25-45.5 hours.

For such a long trip, flight is also a frequently used way for transfer between. The flight only needs around 2.5 hours for the journey, so it is a good option for travelers who are tight in schedule. However, the price of flight can be much higher than rail ticket, especially normal types. But during the off season there may be good discount offered by the airlines.
 

Guangzhou - Chengdu High Speed Trains

Although run at a top speed of 186mph, the bullet train still need around 13.5 to 14.5 hours for this 1,406-mile (2,263 kilometers) trip between Guangzhou South Railway Station and Chengdu East Railway Station. This 2 pairs of rides all depart in the morning and arrive at the destination around late evening or at night. Travelers will spend almost a whole day onboard, having a rest and enjoying the scenery flash by your window. The bullet overnight sleeper trains are unavailable at present.

Altogether 9 normal rides run from Guangzhou to Chengdu, including overnight sleeper trains and 7 rides for return. They use different stations for departure and arrival in both cities, thus travelers need to pay highly attention to the correct station for use, especially departure stations to avoid the trouble on the travel date.

Since the trip by normal types takes a very long time, travelers are recommended to choose a sleeper to guarantee a good rest. It time fits, it would be better to choose the Z type as it is the fastest among normal rides.
