Shanghai - Chengdu Train

Shanghai and Chengdu are two of major tourism destinations in China. Both normal and high speed trains are running between. The high speed ones all run in daytime, taking 11-15 hours. The ordinary ones travel overnight, but they take a long time of 30 to 38.5 hours. Although the sceneries along the way are not bad, it wastes a lot of time, especially for those who are pressed for time. In the case, high speed ones are better choices. After arriving and have a good rest over the night, one can travel around energetically and leisurely.

However, if you travel in a hurry, flight will be a good option, whose duration is about 3.5-5 hours. But it will generally cost you more.

High Speed Trains

All the three pairs of bullet trains are running between Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Chengdu East Railway Station. The travel time is two times less than the ordinary ones. But correspondingly, they are more expensive, even more expensive than the flight tickets in low season. They usually depart in the morning and arrive in the late evening, so you have a full day to relax yourself and admire the scenery along the way.

Four pairs of normal type sleeper trains are in service between the two cities at present. Although the ticket fare is much cheaper compared with the high speed ones, the long journey may make one annoying and dog-tired. To travel by it, you'd better buy a sleeper and buy one in advance because they are always in demand.

This was the second time we have used your service, this time for a larger group with multiple itineraries. Everything went like clockwork. All tickets were delivered to our hotel on time and everything was in order. We were very impressed with the efficiency and reliability of Travel Guide China and would have no hesitation in using your services again.

I have used the train a couple of times now and the process of buying and collecting the tickets and catching the train is easy and the trains are very comfortable and a great example of Chinese engineering and innovation.
My only frustration with the process was getting a cab from Pu Dong airport to the train station, prices vary significantly and can be too high.

Your service is super convenient and easy to use. My train journey went off without a hitch. It is a little challenging when you don't speak Chinese but I had no problems.

I was very happy about how easy it was to book, pay, upload my passport and the service you provided. The ticket was at my hotel in China. It was all fabulous and easy. Thank you.
I took the high speed train last year on a business trip so knew the procedure but it was easier this time. I realized I needed to find the car location in the station, etc. I speak some Mandarin which makes it easier.
I love the hi speed train. I have to tell you I used to take the train 30 years ago when travelling in China. I took a train trip from Beijing to Urumqi (Xinjiang) in 2nd class which took 3 days and I was the only foreigner on the train!...More

I was extremely happy with the support and assistance I received from TravelChinaGuide with the several long distance train trips and also domestic flights my husband and I booked through Travel China Guide during our month travelling in China. I received reassurance and necessary information in a timely fashion when the Chinese rail authority reissued train tickets that were already paid for and once we were in China, were able to collect all our tickets as promised, with no trouble at all.
I appreciated the well written advice on the website, which I used a lot and liked the fact that the same person stayed with me for all the booking processes. I would definitely recommend this booking service to anyone wishing to use a reliable and secure booking service if travelling to China....More
