And only one pair of traditional trains numbered as K671/672 are running between Datong Railway Station and Xi'an Railway Station. They finish the 1,006 kilometers (625 miles) distance in about 16 hours. It is advisable to purchase a soft sleeper or hard sleeper ticket in advance when traveling for such a long-distance journey, which costs CNY403 and CNY258 respectively.

Are there afternoon trains from Datong to Xi'an?

Currently, there are only two morning trains a day from Datong South to Xi'an North. If you need an afternoon train, you may consider to make a transfer in Taiyuan first. There are some afternoon high speed rides from Datong to Taiyuan and also late afternoon rides from Taiyuan to Xi'an. You can check detailed schedule on our website. Datong to Xi'an

Hello

On the 17th of September , I will go to Datong and I planned to go to Xi'an that night on a night train, but I don't see that there is a train available.
Please, can you tell me how to go from Datong to Xi'an by train?

Currently you may need a transfer in Taiyuan.

At present, there is no direct train available. You could consider take a transfer at Taiyian station.

Yes, there is meal for sale and snacks for sale, Chinese styled food for sure. And train staff sale some other things too, but no idea what was that as they only speak Chinese. It is also good to take meal of your own. I see much people take their own food on trains.

How to get our family together in the same room?

I want to book the soft sleeper bed from Xi'an to Datong. However, it seems I cannot select the beds online? As a family, we do not want to separate from each other for this 16 hours overnight trip.

The beds are assigned randomly by the railway company, however, usually it is still possible to get the beds together in same cabin for a group travelers. You are welcomed to leave us this bed requests in our booking form as a remark. We will surely try our best for your request.
