Running Route of High Speed Train between Hong Kong and Guiyang

1. Hong Kong - Guangzhou: With the opening up of this high speed railway in the third quarter of 2018, the travel time between the two cities has been shortened to 47 minutes. As planned, seven major stations are set up along this high speed railway, including Guangzhou South, Qingsheng, Humen, Guangming, Shenzhen North, Futian and West Kowloon.

2. Guangzhou - Guiyang: This section, whose overall length is 857 km (532 miles), has been in service since December 26th, 2014. With top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph), the trains only need about 4 or 6 hours to finish the whole trip. The railway stations along the way are Guiyang North, Longli North, Guidingxian, Duyun East, Sanduxian, Rongjiang, Congjiang, Sanjiang South, Guilin NorthYangshuo, Gongcheng, Hezhou, Huaiji, Guangning, Zhaoqing East, Sanshui South, Guangzhou, and Guangzhou South.

Hong Kong - Guiyang Train vs. Flight

So far, only one pair of flights are operated to shuttle passengers from Hong Kong to Guiyang or from Guiyang to Hong Kong. The whole plane ride needs about 2 hours at least and the ticket fare of an economy class seat is about CNY900 to CNY 1,200.

It is obvious that taking a plane is about 2 hours faster than taking a bullet train. The expense of the former is naturally higher than that of the latter. Therefore, passengers who are pressed for time and affordable for the tickets can choose to travel by air. In another word, if passengers have rich travel time and want to enjoy the train scenery along the way, travel by bullet train is pretty fun.

Your hotel is closer to the North Station, you can consider G407. However, I found tickets hard to get on this train sometimes. Usually high speed trains run punctually with no more than 5 minutes difference.

Baggage restriction for first class seat and Business class seat - Hong Kong to Guangzhou South
I am going to Guiyang through Guangzhou South. Due to the cold weather, I need to carry a baggage of 135cm(HxWxD), but the weight not over 20 Kg. It is slightly over 130cm. If I purchase the business class seat , can I get little extra baggage allowance (135 cm vs 130cm, weight still below 20kg)?

In fact the size is not a problem. They do not really check the size and weight. You can take your luggage with you directly no matter for first class, business class or even second class.

I am about to book the G312 to Guiyang
However, before I make the booking, I want to confirm one thing. It is a through train from HK right? Means I do not need to get off in Guangzhou when the running route changed?

It will go from HK to Guiyang directly. It has a stop in Guangzhou but you do not need to get off until your destination.

Hi, I am looking for a train directly from Guiyang to HK
I read online that the ticket booked with MTR order number need to be collected in HK and ticket issued with pick up number need to be collected in mainland. But how can I know if I will get MTR order number or pick up number? I will depart from Guiyang, it is not possible to collect it at HK for me.

Thank you for your inquiry.
For your one way trip from mainland to HK, the ticket will only be issued with ticket pick up number. You can collect the paper ticket out from any railway station in mainland by using the pick up number and all passengers’ passports. Please rest assured.
