Running Route of High Speed Train between Hong Kong and Guiyang

1. Hong Kong - Guangzhou: With the opening up of this high speed railway in the third quarter of 2018, the travel time between the two cities has been shortened to 47 minutes. As planned, seven major stations are set up along this high speed railway, including Guangzhou South, Qingsheng, Humen, Guangming, Shenzhen North, Futian and West Kowloon.

2. Guangzhou - Guiyang: This section, whose overall length is 857 km (532 miles), has been in service since December 26th, 2014. With top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph), the trains only need about 5.5 - 7 hours to finish the whole trip. The railway stations along the way are Guiyang North, Longli North, Guidingxian, Duyun East, Sanduxian, Rongjiang, Congjiang, Sanjiang South, Guilin NorthYangshuo, Gongcheng, Hezhou, Huaiji, Guangning, Zhaoqing East, Sanshui South, Guangzhou, and Guangzhou South.

Hong Kong - Guiyang Train vs. Flight

So far, there is no direct flight operating between Hong Kong and Guiyang. Passengers taking a plane need to transfer in Shanghai or Xiamen. Thus the total travel time of flying is more than that of taking a bullet train. Also, the flight ticket fare is much higher. It is easy to draw a conclusion that high speed train is the best choice for passengers who shuttle between the two cities.

Questions & Answers on Hong Kong - Guiyang High Speed Train
Asked by Dave Jeffes from USA | May. 28, 2023 08:34Reply
customs at border?
I am coming from the US, flying into Hong Kong, then want to take the train to Guiyang. Do we need a covid test result, and use the app, to pass into the mainland from Hong Kong? What is the procedure for boarding and travelling on this train? Do we show negative covid test to purchase ticket? Do we get checked on board the train? Thank you.

Yes, you do need a self-testing antigen test within 48 hours and fill out the Chinese Health Declaration Form at Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station. All the immigration clearance will be processed and tests will be checked at West Kowloon Station. Then you can board the train. It is suggested to book tickets in advance.

Guiyang North is much closer, about 10 km from the hotel, very easy to get by metro or taxi.

Your hotel is closer to the North Station, you can consider G407. However, I found tickets hard to get on this train sometimes. Usually high speed trains run punctually with no more than 5 minutes difference.

As I checked on map, East station is a little bit closer, 12km. The North Station is around 16km in distance.
