Xi'an Weather in June

 From weather’s point of view, June is not really the right time to visit Xi’an. In the first half of the month, it’s hot, with the apparent temperature in daytime reaching around 35°C (95°F) most of the time. In the second half of the month, you may see a few cooler days, but this is usually brought about by rain, which may not be a good weather condition for traveling for most people.
From travel experience’s point of view, June is not as crowded as peak season like July and August, but there are still a lot of tourists because a lot of students will finish their college entrance examination this month and start traveling around. Also, June 19 - 21 in 2026 is the Dragon Boat Festival, so Xi’an will be even more crowded. Clothes: Generally speaking, summer clothes such as T-shirts, skirts, shorts, and dresses are recommended. They are better to be breathable and quick-drying, since the weather of Xi’an is quite hot this month. Besides, it is advised to pack a couple of long-sleeved garments for rainy days, when the temperature may drop to a cool level.

 Shoes: Breathable and thin sneakers will be the best choices for you. If you want to keep cool, water shoes may be more comfortable and suitable than sandals during Xi’an trips, which may require much walking.

 Other Essentials:
You are advised to bring a portable water bottle, which can help you drink water more frequently to keep hydrated in the hot daytime. Besides, to prevent getting sunburn, remember to wear sunscreen, sunhats, and sunglasses. Parasols are useful on both sunny and rainy days.Travel Recommendation Rate: 

First of all, try to exclude the crowded Dragon Boat Festival, June 19 - 21 in 2026, from your trip. Then, taking the climate of Xi’an in June into consideration, you need to check the weather forecast before your trip to confirm the weather conditions and bring adequate and proper clothes. If there is rain according to the weather forecast, make a plan B ahead of time on the basis of bringing necessary rain gear.  
As for the daily itinerary, first, it is recommended that you get up as early as possible and make full use of the cool morning - it gets light around 5:30 this month. You can start by going to the morning market for breakfast, and take a walk in the City Wall Park to experience the daily life of the locals. Then, when the sunlight is not strong and the temperature is not very high, go biking on the City Wall. You need to avoid the heat and intense sunshine at midday in case of heatstroke, so find a restaurant to have a good rest from 12:00 to 14:00. 

Terracotta Army

Try to book an afternoon ticket for the Shaanxi History Museum or the magnificent Terracotta Army, which are not only worth visiting but also indoor places with air conditioning. As for outdoor attractions like the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, the Bell Tower, and the Drum Tower, it is best to go after 15:00, when the temperature begins to decrease. In the evening, the Muslim Quarter can provide you with delicious local food. After dinner, you will find the temperature is much more comfortable, and you can go to Defu Bar Street, see the illuminated Bell Tower and the City Wall, or admire the night show at the South Gate of the City Wall.
