Hangzhou - Kunming Train

7 pairs of high speed trains and 3 pairs of normal speed ones are available between Hangzhou and Kunming. All high speed ones use Hangzhou East Railway Station and Kunming South Railway Station, while Hangzhou South Railway Station and Kunming Railway Station are used for normal trains. The high speed rails take about 11 - 12 hours while the normal ones take at least 32 hours. A second class seat on the bullet trains costs CNY 806 - 943.

Normal trains T381/ T382 do not pass Guizhou Province but go to Guangxi instead, stopping at Guilin North, Liuzhou, Nanning, Baise, etc.

For those who have a tight schedule and do not want to take such a long journey, flights are also available. The flight only takes about 3 hours and the airfare varies according to the departure date and time. An early booking may help passengers get a better discount.
