Urumqi Railway Station
Urumqi Railway Station is a newly-built modern railway station. With a construction area of 27 acres or so, it is the largest railway station in Xinjiang. The station is about 7.5 miles (12 km) from Urumqi South Railway Station, 8 miles (13 km) from Diwopu Airport, and 8.5 miles (14 km) from Red Hill. This station is the terminal of Lanzhou-Xinjiang High Speed Railway.

Urumqi Train Station operates high speed trains to Lanzhou, Kumul, Turpan, and Xining, and non-bullet trains to Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi'an etc. and international trains to Kazakhstan.

Urumqi railway station consists of a three-storey terminal building and two squares, the north square and south square.
2F: waiting hall, check points, toilets, hot drinking water, service desk
1F: platform, ticket office
-1F: arrival hall
North Square: bus stations, toilets, taxi stands, long-distance bus station
South Square: bus stops
By city bus: K2, 909, 301, 5302, 5305, BRT 5, airport express line
For arrival passengers, please read the direction boards carefully to locate the bus.
By taxi:
Passengers arriving by taxi will be dropped off at north square. The taxi pick-up point is at the north square, too, on its west side.
By long-distance bus:
Passengers will arrive at the east side of the north square if they travel by long-distance bus. Destinations of this long-distance bus station include nearby cities such as Yining, Kumul, Turpan, Kashgar, Kurle. It also has coaches to other places such as Gansu, Ningxia, Henan, Chengdu, and Chongqing. Besides, it also operates international coach to Kazakhstan.
Red Hill
Take bus no. 307 at north square to Xinzhou City Garden, and then transfer to bus no. 73 to the destination.
Xinjiang Regional Museum
Take bus no. 5301 to Huangjin Hospital, and then change to bus no. 311 to get there.
Urumqi South Railway Station
Take bus no. K2 at north square to the south station. It costs CNY5.
Diwopu International Airport
Take airport express line at north square to the airport.
Ticket office
There are three ticket offices at the north and west sides of 1F and the north side of -1F. Currently, altogether 39 ticket windows are available for passengers to purchase, change, or refund tickets. Among them, ticket window no. 5 on 1F is bilingual ticket window and window no.12 is for international tickets.
Waiting hall
Waiting hall is located on the 2F. Check points are installed at the east and west sides of the waiting hall. Check point A1 leading to platform 1 is at the east side and check point B16 leading to platform 9 is at the west sides. Passengers can go to platforms 2-8 through other check points including check points A2-A15 and B1-B15. Passengers should read their tickets carefully to get tickets checked at the right check point and then follow the direction boards to the platforms to board. Each check point has two channels. Please note that if you hold blue tickets, get your tickets checked at the automatic ticket machines; if you hold red tickets, your tickets will be punched manually.
Toilets and hot drinking water can be found at four corners in the waiting hall. LED screens are in the hall to show the detailed arrival and departure information. Besides, shopping area is available in the waiting hall for passenger’s convenience. At the north sides of the waiting hall, one can buy drinks and desserts; at the south side, one can find a bookstore. Also, automatic vending machines, restaurants, music teahouse, ATM machines are provided inside waiting hall.
Volunteer service
About 150 volunteers are mainly serving at the exits/entrances and bus station or taxi stands all day. Passengers can ask for direction or seek advice from those volunteers.
Service desks
Two service desks are provided at the east and west sides of the waiting hall respectively. Passengers can go to the service desk at east side to inquire about trains schedule, seek advice or lodge a complaint; and it also offers help for special passengers to board or get off. The service desk at the west side mainly provide services for the old, weak, sick, and disabled; mother and baby’s waiting area, and nursery room are also provided next to this service desk.
