Tianjin to Urumqi Trains

Traveling from Tianjin to Urumqi, at least 33 hours are required to take the connecting train in Beijing, Shijiazhuang or Lanzhou. It costs the least to make a transfer in Beijing, and the most in Lanzhou. While in Shijiazhuang, passengers do not need to transfer between its two railway stations. No direct trains are serving now.

If you are afraid of such a long travel time, 2 flights are optional with a duration of 4 – 4.5 hours. But it often costs more than the trains.

Passengers can also combine high speed trains and flights in Beijing to get to Urumqi from Tianjin, which takes at least 4.5 hours on board.

 How to travel from Beijing South Railway Station to Beijing West Railway Station
Passengers can take subway line 4 at Beijing South and transfer to line 7 at Caishikou subway station, which will take you to the West Station directly. About 0.5 hours are needed.

 How to travel from Lanzhou West Railway Station to Lanzhou Railway Station
Passengers can take metro line 1 at West Railway Station North Square station and transfer to line 2 at Dongfanghong Square station. This transfer takes about 0.5 hours.
 Now, 2 non-stop flights from Tianjin Binhai International Airport to Urumqi Tianshan International Airport are in service, taking 4 - 4.5 hours to the destination. The economy class ticket costs CNY 850 - CNY 1,800 in the different time and date of departure.
 Over 180 high speed trains are running from Tianjin/ Tianjin West/ Tianjin South to Beijing/ Beijing West/ Beijing South with a duration of 0.5 – 1.5 hours.

For the second part of Tianjin – Urumqi trip, 16 flights are available from Beijing Capital Airport/ Beijing Daxing International Airport to Urumqi International Airport, departing at 07:35 – 08:30. It takes them about 4 – 4.5 hours, and costs CNY 850 – 1,800 for its economy class.

 Just travel along the opposite route to get to Tianjin from Urumqi, that is to say, take the connecting train in Beijing, Lanzhou or Shijiazhuang. The total expense is CNY 629.5 at least for a hard sleeper on normal train and a second class seat on high speed train.
