Beijing-Suzhou Train

On regular days, there are 20 more pairs of trains running between capital Beijing and Suzhou. Among them, 2 pairs are normal types and the rest are high speed G and D trains. The high speed types usually take around 5 to 11 hours for this 769 miles (1,237 kilometers) trip while normal types take much longer time, around 14 to 21.5 hours for the 857 miles (1,379 kilometers) trip. On appointed dates of each week, more high speed G and D types are in service.

Without directly flight between the two cities, travel by rail is the most popular way for the transfer. But passengers are recommended to book the ticket in advance, especially around holiday period.

High Speed Train

Both G and D types are available.

17 G type run on a daily basis from Beijing South Railway Station and 19 for trip from Suzhou North Railway Station which is only an intermediate station stopping for 1-6 minutes. Thus, passengers are highly recommended to make preparation for getting on/ off in advance. Every Friday to Sunday, there will be another 8 G types added, 4 from capital city and 4 from Suzhou.

For D type, there are basically 2 rides available every day to Suzhou and one vice versa. Slightly different on the running route and speed from G type, it takes about 11 hours for the 851 miles (1,370 kilometers) trip. Although it takes longer time than G type, it is equipped with sleepers; hence passengers can have a more comfortable trip.
