We are very happy with the service we received from TravelChinaGuide Tours and would recommend them to others wanting a well-run tour with lots of room for modification to suit individual needs.
During the enquiry/booking period in February (for a September tour) we asked a number of questions and asked for several modifications to the original advertised tour. Echo Guo, our Travel Consultant at this time, was friendly and responded promptly and actioned any modifications that we requested. She didn't, however, actually offer alternatives for us to consider, which I might have preferred. Closer to the tour, Kelly Wang became our Travel Consultant, and she also responded to my emails promptly and fully. I was however surprised that I didna€?t receive a reminder when the balance of our payment was due. Later Kelly checked before she made train bookings that the times suited us, and made changes when requested. A good service. During the tour, when I became ill, Kelly was quick to offer help and support. On several occasions Kelly proactively checked on my condition, which was reassuring. Because I was unwell, I needed to postpone and/or cancel 3 of the 6 mini-tours we had booked. Kelly handled this with ease.
The first day tour we participated in, in Beijing to the Forgotten City and the Wall, was interesting and well run and the guide, Murphy, was knowledgeable and considerate of his clients. My 2 comments about the tour: 1. at Tiananmen Square/Forbidden City we were asked to leave our bags in the bus to facilitate transit through the security checkpoints (a good idea) but we were not given enough warning to ensure we took all we needed, and 2. it was a very long day, 13 hours from hotel pickup.
In Xia€?an, it was unfortunate that it rained all day but the tour was still interesting. The guide Lily seemed knowledgeable but she didna€?t engage well with the group, and didna€?t ensure everyone understood what was to happen, eg she didna€?t give clear audible instructions before we got off the bus and then walked ahead of the group, failing to check that no-one got lost. She asked for a good review.
Our private guide in Chengdu, Maggie, was knowledgeable and engaging. The tour to the panda sanctuary was all I had hoped, and the Giant Buddha was interesting a€“ but there was lot of driving between the 2 sites. Another very long, but interesting, day.
I am disappointed I was too unwell to join the 2 tours to see the Avatar Mountains in Zhangjiajie. The concept of visiting several different cities by fast train, having good hotels in these places arranged for us, and undertaking group mini-tours worked well for us. Because we are familiar with Asian cities, we enjoyed finding our own way around the cities (by metro or DiDi) on our free days, and finding our own food. And it was good knowing we had Kelly available for advice when needed. The organisation and the quality of the trains, flight, and hotels by TravelChinaGuide was excellent. Thank you.

Yes, we had a good trip Guides were good. Comments are below Ryan in Shanghai took us to Shanghai museum which was normally closed on Tuesday. Recovery to see on Thursday before we left was thanks to your quick help. Ryan was always on the phone when with us.

We very much enjoyed the trip. The tour was arranged well, both your preparation as well as during the trip, with very good sights included. The accommodation was also good to very good. A slight downside was that the program could have been slightly more packed to make use of all available time at Zhangjiajie. The only point was our guide: while she was well organized, friendly and helpful, we received hardly any background information on the parks, the geology as well as the cities we visited. Here we had hoped for much more.

Everything is fine. Too many places to go in such a small time.But all schedulled things were done.Good idea spend more time in Shangai by myself. In short, everything went well, despite irregular.

We have arrived home safely and had a great time. Thank you so much for organising it and the guides were so helpful. It was truly an amazing holiday and great birthday celebration for our parents.

We really enjoyed everything about the tour. The guides were all informative, friendly, helpful and caring. We appreciated the assistance at the airports. The transport was all good, apart from the bus in Shanghai which was a bit small for the group luggage and a bit old. The Beijing and Shanghai hotels were amazing and the hotels in Xian and Guilin were good, but the rooms were not quite as amazing. The food was excellent. We could have done with an included lunch in Shanghai. The sightseeing was excellent and we also enjoyed the model terracotta warrior making and the Tai Chi and the shows We were very happy with the tour. We would highly recommend it.
