Day 1 Shanghai - Beijing
Mutianyu Great Wall, Beijing
Mutianyu Great Wall
Beijing, the center of China's politics, culture, international communication and technological innovation, is one of the must-see cities in China. Generally, it needs 3 - 4 days to go sightseeing the city. But if your time is limited, this classic 2-day tour with the most famous Great Wall and Forbidden City is a good choice.

In the morning, please take the high speed train to Beijing by yourself. We will book the train ticket for you in advance and guide you how to collect it at the railway station. The journey takes about five and a half hours and you will arrive in Beijing at around 13:00. After picking you up at the train station, the guide will lead you to Mutianyu Great Wall by car, the highlight of our Great Wall tour from Shanghai. Mutianyu Great Wall is the essence of the Great Wall built in the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). A round-trip cable car or chairlift is arranged, so you can have more time to feel the charm of this ancient military defense system. With a vegetation coverage over 90%, the surrounding scenery is quite distinctive and charming. Upon ascending, your guide will introduce you the sections with wonderful scenery or the one which is easy to climb. You can hike on the Great Wall for 1 - 2 hours according to your physical condition. In the hiking tour, you will marvel at the densely distributed watchtowers, special branch walls and unique terraces like Zhengguan Terrace and Big Corner Tower. After the tour, we will return to the downtown area and check in the hotel.
 Friendly Tips

Except climbing on foot, there are another two ways for sightseeing the Great Wall: a round-trip cable car or go uphill by cable car and downhill by chairlift. The guide will make corresponding arrangement based on your interest.
Day 2 Beijing - Shanghai
Forbidden City in Beijing
Forbidden City
After breakfast, we will head to Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City in the very city center. Tiananmen Square is the largest city square in the world with a length of 880 meters (962 yards) and a width of 500 meters (547 yards). Monument to the People's Heroes and Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao stand in the center of the square. In addition, you can also see Great Hall of the People, National Museum and Tian'anmen Tower. The square has witnessed several significant events of China including the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China. To its north lies the Forbidden City. As the royal palaces of Ming and Qing Dynasties (1644 - 1911), it covers an area of 72 hectares (178 acers) with more than 70 palaces and 9,000 rooms. Surrounding the rectangular Forbidden City is a 52-meter-wide (57-yard-wide) moat. Inside, it is divided into inner court and outer court which are for holding grand ceremony and living separately. The center of outer court is the three main halls: Hall of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Central Harmony, and Hall of Preserved Harmony; while the inner court is centered by the Palace of Heavenly Purity, the Hall of Celestial and Terrestrial Union and the Palace of Earthly Tranquility.

Afterwards, the guide will transfer you to the railway station for the high train back to Shanghai. Hope this Forbidden City and Great Wall of China tour from Shanghai will leave you a long-lasting good memory!
