Chongqing - Yibin High Speed Railway to Open Soon

Chongqing - Yibin high speed railway, with a length of 206 km (128 mi) and allowed top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph), is the northern section of Chongqing - Kunming high speed railway. It has been on test operation since August 16 and is expected to be put into official use in this late September or early October.

By then, the travel time between Chongqing and Yibin will be shortened to around 50 minutes. Currently, the high speed trains run between the two cities with detours to Chengdu, and the travel time is as long as 3.5-4.5 hours.

The southern section of Chongqing - Kunming high speed railway between Zhaotong and Kunming is scheduled to open in 2025 and the whole section in 2027, by when the duration between the two metropolitans in southwestern China will be shortened to about 2 hours from present 5 hours.

Huanglong Jiuzhai Railway Station Started Serving Passengers

Huanglong Jiuzhai Railway Station, about 26km (16mi) from Huanglong National Scenic Reserve and 90km (56mi) from Jiuzhaigou National Park, has been put into use since August 30, 2024. Currently, there are 6 high speed trains running here from Chengdu East Railway Station, taking 1H39M to 2H10M. A second class seat ticket costs CNY128 or 141. On arrival, there are both buses and taxis sending passengers to the scenic spots mentioned above, greatly saving them troubles and time on the way. For return trip, 5 trains are available, with travel time of 1H41M to 2H23M.
