Nanning - Hanoi International Trains Resumed since May 25, 2025
May 25, 2025
The train numbered T8701 departs from Nanning Railway Station in Nanning, China at 18:05 every day and arrives at Gia Lam Railway Station in Hanoi, Vietnam at 06:30 the next day. It exits China through Pingxiang Port and enters Vietnam through Dong Dang Port, from which the train number will be changed to MR2. MR1 (T8702 from Dong Dang) is operating in the opposite direction between 22:20 (Beijing time) and 10:06 the next day.

The tickets are sold on site only in China. Passengers can buy one with their passport at most 10 days in advance at the designated ticket windows at Nanning Railway Station, Guilin North Railway Station, Chongzuo Railway Station and Pingxiang Railway Station. Honoi to Nanning train tickets are only available at Gia Lam Railway Station.

Only soft sleeper carriages are set onboard. They have 4 berths in each cabin, and all cost CNY 215. Besides, passengers to take this train have to go through the manual lane when checking tickets. Those who want to extend their travel to/from Beijing can go on to take the normal train Z6/Z5.

2025 May Day Holiday Travel Rush Begins
Apr. 29, 2025
This year, the travel rush starts on April 29 and will end on May 6, lasting for 8 days. The highest passenger flow will arrive on May 1. It is estimated that during the rush, Beijing will send 5.37 million passengers and receive 5.21 million, while about 4.46 million travelers will depart from Shanghai.

To deal with the large passenger flow, additional lanes for security check and ticket verification have been in place in major railway stations. Fast channels will also open to passengers whose train is leaving within 20 minutes during peak hours.

If you have a travel plan during this time, be sure to get to your departure railway station at least 1.5 hours ahead to avoid missing the train.
