Chengdu Railway Station

Chengdu Railway Station, commonly known as North Railway Station by locals, is about 3 miles (5 km) from the city center, 7 miles (11 km) from the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, 8 miles (13 km) from the East Railway Station, 11 miles (17 km) from the South Station, and 14 miles (22 km) from Shuangliu International Airport

It has stopped service for reconstruction since 2022 and is expected to reopen in 2027.

Railway Lines of Chengdu Station

As one of the largest passenger transport terminals in southwest China, the station operated regular trains to many large cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Kunming and Guilin as well as some bullet ones to Shanghai, Wuhan, Chongqing, Dujiangyan and a few other cities.

The station consists of a two-storey terminal building and the front square.
 2F: waiting area, check point, soft seat waiting room, toilet, hot drinking water, waiting room for special passengers, shops
 1F: ticket office, waiting area, waiting room for special passengers, check point, VIP lounge, left luggage service, toilet, hot drinking water, exit
 -1F: exit hall
 

How to get to the Train Station from downtown area?

 Arrival by Subway line 1 & line 7:
Passengers arriving by subway should get out from exit A1 to the station.

 Arrival by bus:
At North Railway Station: 15, 16, 24, 27, 28, 33, 34, 54
At North Railway Station East: 16, 33, 55, 57, 650, 65, 70, 86, 9, K17
At North Railway Station West: 27, 28, 33, 34, 73, 9

Passengers arriving by bus will get off at the front square. For ticket holders, enter the station directly and go to the correct waiting room to find a seat and wait for departure. For those without tickets, the ticket office is located to the east of the terminal building. Go there to purchase a ticket and then enter the station.

Ticket Check and Boarding

Before checking in, passengers should read their tickets carefully to know where to have the tickets checked and after checking, go to the platforms to board. Passengers with passport should be handled manually.
 

How to exit and leave the station?

Upon arriving, passengers will be led to the exit hall to get out. Afterwards, go to the front square to find bus, taxi or subway to leave the station.

 Leave by subway:
The entrances for subway line 1 and line 7 are easily accessible at the east side of the square or around the square.

 Leave by bus:
Bus stops can be found at the east and west sides of the front square.

 Leave by taxi:
Taxi stands are also available on the front square, close to the exit.

 Transportation to other places:
 East Railway Station:
1. Take subway line 7 to get there.
2. Take bus line K12 to East Station Bus Stop and then walk about 1,100 yards to the destination.

 South Station:
Take subway line 1 to the south station, exit D1.

 Shuangliu International Airport:
Take metro line 7 to Taipingyuan station, and then change to line 10 to get to the airport.

 Tianfu International Airport:
Take metro line 1 and interchange to line 18 at South Railway station. It takes about 1.5 hours in total.  

 Tianfu Square:
Take subway line 1 to the square, exit F.

 

Facilities and Services:

 Ticket Office:
The ticket hall is located separately to the east of the waiting hall. It is open all day long. Inside, there are 36 permanent ticket windows. During peak seasons, the number of ticket windows can be increased to 67. At the north end of the hall there is an information desk for passengers.

The waiting hall is large enough to hold nearly 10,000 passengers. On the first floor are No.1 Waiting Room, Soft Seat Waiting Room, and Inquiry Center. Waiting Room No. 2 and No. 3 are on the second floor. All waiting rooms are equipped with washrooms and hot drinking water. There is also a waiting room especially for the disabled on 1F. Passengers can enter the waiting hall 2 hours prior to departure, and the ticket check closes 5 minutes before departure.

 Left luggage service:
Passengers can storage their luggage on the two sides of the station entrance. It usually charges CNY5 for a small bag and CNY10 for a large bag per day.

 “Zhangyun Desk”
Located on 1F, the “Zhangyun Desk” is a team of 13 people to assist the old, young, sick, disabled, pregnant and any other passengers needing assistance during check-in, waiting, and boarding.
